This substrate is Amazing! It does cloud but give it a couple of hours and the water is clear! It also, cuts the time on cycling your tank! Have it in all my aquariums !

I recently got back into the Aquarium hobby and wanted to try a different substrate. This has been a great substrate so far as it doesn't want to get sucked up by the gravel cleaner as easy as other substrates and keeps the plants in the substrate. It's designed well (practical and looks good) and you are able to fill a nano aquarium with one bag.

I mixed a bag of white and a bag of black to get this color mix. Awesome substrate!

The substrate is fantastic, but my mistake was adding it after my aquarium was already set and planted. I had regular sand in the bottom but needed a bit more. I figured that I buy a bag of this fancy stuff. Now the water is super cloudy and I've got a layer of brown scum on top.Also, I don't know if it's normal, but my bag of sand was wet inside and it smelled mildly of poo. I hope I didn't just kill my fish.

The media could not be loaded. Highly recommend! I was skeptical because of some of the reviews with unresolved cloudiness. I do not have one complaint about this product. I cut the entire bag open and plopped the sand in. I used 20 lbs and it put a nice bottom in a 29 gallon tall tank. I filled it up with a hose with low pressure to prevent as much stir up as possible. It was cloudy for about 24 hours but it is now settled and clear. The black sand looks like it has glitter in it that shimmers. Very nice added touch. I am glad I took the risks and I do recommend it.

No cloudiness. 10 gallon tank, covered the bottom and then put a thin layer of gravel overtop to keep my plants in place. Tank environment is thriving, water parameters are perfect now. Had a bad nitrite/nitrate problem before.

It said not to rinse before putting in the tank. It did make my tank super cloudy ( black/grey color) , I cannot see my glass catfish, or any of my baby rabbit snails. I can only see the betta and the three big rabbit snails if they are close to the glass. I do have sand floating on top I have to get out of the tank as well. I had 2 5lbs in my 30gal, I need more. I do believe it will be a beautiful addition to my tank complimenting my fish and decorations as well as plants. The sand is also hard to get out of the bag and is wet in the bag. It isn’t a terrible price. The sand is small and fine and soft.
