READ AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!!
I've owned a few, and yes, I had issues with leaking. Then I read the instructions. It's clearly stated that to empty the water tank before adding a full bottle to the top of the unit. This allows the tank to fill up at a lower pressure. If you don't, the extra pressure from the refill will blow out some seals or O-rings. Everyone of their humidifiers I've done this with works fine. So, READ AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!!

Waste of money - worked only twice
Disasppointing, not only did they take my $$, but the product stopped working after the deadline to return it. Leaked water from the bottle and stopped running. I had one years ago that I used for travel, but it lasted 2 years before it stopped working. But this time I paid 30% more for same item and it only worked twice. I plan to complain directly to the supplier - don't waste your money.

Mixed Feelings
This is the second one I have purchased. The first one lasted for over 3 years. It wasn't as quiet after a year of use. I followed the cleaning instructions and always kept it clean. The older it got the louder it became. I replaced it in April 2023. The new one is very quiet but the plug on the back of the device rusted. This morning there was water all over the dresser top where I had it located. It has never done that before, not even the first did that. Not sure if I want another one like it.

Ignore other negative reviews
Ok so I read other people's reviews and learned from their mistakes so I wouldn't make them myself. #1, you need to use a water bottle with a 'taller' spout (like a Smart Water bottle) ...don't try to use the cheapo bottles with the short spout (like Walmart brand). #2, you need to make sure the bottle is pushed down AS FAR AS YOU CAN GET IT TO GO on the connector to ensure it doesn't leak. And as other reviewers have said, empty the tank portion out before reattaching a newly filled bottle. Once you follow these guidelines, this unit works just fine and provides a nice steady stream of humid air. Great for traveling out west!!

Good for travel just don't use a large water bottle
I had another brand of travel humidifier and I was able to use a 33oz water bottle without issue. I tried using the same size bottle since I like to have it run all night. It ended up leaking all over the nightstand. The next time I used it, I got a smaller water bottle (23.7 oz smart water) with the sports cap and cut off the ring at the base of the cap so I was able to screw the neck adapter on fully. This worked and I was able to run it without leaking. Make sure to read the directions and completely empty it before putting a water bottle in it. It does put out a nice amount of mist.

Such a little thing, but works great!
Needed to have a small and portable humidifier for for travel during my daughter's college audition season. This was recommended by others who had been through the experience, and I was not disappointed! So compact for travelling. We had no problems with leaking as others have talked about - I made sure the bottle had a large enough lip on it as others talked about. It was nice to to plug it in, put that water bottle on top, turn it on and point it towards her while she slept. There is a very slight hum to it, but we like white noise when we sleep, so wasn't a problem for us.Great investment for sure!

Doesn't work well
I love the desktop Homedics cylinder humidifier that came with my larger humidifier at Sam's. However it stopped working. This only worked part of the time. Sometimes it puts out a big puff of vapor. Other times I had to lift the lid to get it to work again but only for a short time. The concept is great to use a water bottle. This design just doesn't quite cut it yet.

Compact and easy to use; UPDATE: LEAKY
UPDATE 5/15/19: I finally experienced what people are complaining about. WHY IS IT LEAKING?! There must be a fundamental flaw in the design if it starts to leak out the bottom. My bottle was only about half full, cap screwed on, upright on a flat surface and the base's feet out. Didn't touch it at all. The top part of the base was tightly secured, so it definitely wasn't leaking out the reservior. Suddenly I see it gurgling and my desk is swamped, wetting expensive art materials and electronics I was working on. This NEEDS TO BE FIXED. Not only is this an inconvenience, but also an electrical hazard. I will cease to use this product.Original ReviewI must be one of the lucky ones, because based on the reviews, I had high chance of a dud, but mine works perfectly. I've had this since September 2018 (as of this writing, April 2019) and have used it daily at night with a standard 16.9oz water bottle. I have a messy desk, so it is a perfect, compact size. Outputs the right amount of water into my bedroom. At a medium setting, it uses up 4/5 of a bottle in 7-8 hours. I have not experienced any spillage or humidifier puddles (you have to make sure the grey part is securely placed on the reservoir, and by that I mean the reservoir cover and not the part that gets put on the water bottle).Considering getting one for my office space since my current office humidifier is slowly dying.

Loved the humidifier for its size and convenience,
I had used it for a couple of weeks for a bed side humidifier. It was very good at that. but it began to leak so I had to return it.

IT DOES NOT WORK!
I’ve used a very similar Bell + Howell humidifier, which also uses a plastic water bottle, for years. I misplaced the one I used last winter during a recent move, so I bought a HoMedics one. How do I say this without being misunderstood? It sucks. The mist keeps turning off. When I remove the top cover, it appears to be working, the water is spritzing, but nothing comes out of the mist spout. I’ve had it “on” for about 6 hours. The mist has come out intermittently, but mostly it’s doing nothing. Also, the hard plastic packaging was hell to get into.I ordered another USB powered mini-humidifier.

Stopped working after six months and three uses.
Leaks out the front and no longer works. Makes a grinding sound. Did not have excessive use by any means. I’d just buy a full size one for this price.

This item is easy to use and great for travelling!
Purchased this item for my bedside and for ease of packing when safe again to travel. It uses a standard water bottle and I refill it with distilled or filtered water. However, there is a downside re BLUE LIGHT to be addressed by the manufacturer. To the MANUFACTURER, I strongly recommend an “on/off switch” be included on the unit for customer preference. Personally, I need complete darkness in the bedroom.

easy to use, but difficult to clean. Reluctant to use Amazon's onerous review process
a bit low on output compared to others in the same category, but a real pain to clean because of the crevices and passages in the base and particularly the upper piece.
