Circulon A1 Series with ScratchDefense Non Stick Medium Frying Pan, 25.4cm

I bought the Circulon Scratch Defense Saute Pan with Lid 28cm - 4.7L back in March 2025 and purposely withheld my review. I’ve now had a good number of months to use it and can honestly say I wish I’d bought one sooner! Quite simply it is the best non-stick non-scratch pan I’ve ever had (I’m in my 60’s and have been cooking for years)! I’ve used it to sauté and fry, for making soup and stews and wouldn’t be without it. It is a tad on the heavier side but has a cleverly built in grab handle at the front. The graphite pewter finish is stylish and washes well. In fact I loved it so much I purchased the matching 21cm frying pan, use it frequently and hope to add more pieces from the collection in future. Don’t be put off by poor reviews criticising the non-stick surface. It’s superb! Respect the product - ie don’t use cooking sprays as most contain lecithin which can be nigh on impossible to remove once it builds up; wash the pan when cool. In my opinion the Circulon Stratch Defense Non-Stick range of products is top-tier. The cookware is a little pricey but worth it. My only gripe - it’s not possible to buy all of the products as individual items which is a great shame. Surely this option would provide extra revenue for Circulon whilst offering cookware to suit their customers’ preference and purse. I highly recommend this gorgeous range. It’s elegant, effective and an absolute delight to use in the kitchen.

I purchased this Circulon ScratchDefense frying pan because of the advertised claims such as “130x Longer Lasting” and the Lifetime Guarantee. Unfortunately, after only around 14 months of normal household use, the non-stick coating failed completely. Even simple foods like eggs started sticking badly. I took good care of the pan: I used silicone utensils, avoided scratching, and followed the recommended cooking guidance by using mainly low to medium heat. I only used higher heat briefly for searing, which is an acceptable use according to Circulon’s own guidance. When I contacted the manufacturer, my warranty claim was initially rejected based only on photos, with the issue attributed to “overheating” and “residue build-up.” I disagreed with this assessment, as the pan had been used carefully and the stainless steel base remained in very good condition. Fortunately, Amazon handled the matter much better and provided a refund after the return process. The pan did not meet my expectations for a premium product marketed with extreme durability claims. I would think carefully before purchasing if the main reason is the advertised longevity and lifetime guarantee.

Brilliant little pan, non-stick and it *does not* wear off. My goto small pan, and we bought the larger version to be our goto bit pan. Worth the price!

Good, sturdy handle with two rivets/screws ensuring total control whilst cooking. Fantastic non stick pan coating makes cooking/frying a piece of cake. Best frying I've ever bought and will be checking out their other pans in the future. Defo recommend this pans, we'll worth the money.

I've been a fan of circulon. My mum's sautee pan is still going strong after 25 years of abuse, so I thought I'd freshen up my pan set with the 30cm Scratch Defense Pan to complement the 21.5 and 25cm items I got gifted from Circulon. It's a perfect size for the sort of cooking I do, since I can let a ragu stew for 4 hours or use it as a substitute to a wok (the asian in me is dying, however). Dare I say it, I even use it for crepes. Being a bit of a savage, I've also used my stainless steel tasting spoon on the pans to stir. No problems whatsoever. As much as I love using my lodge cast iron and procook carbon steel pans, I'd say 80% of my stove work is done exclusively with this pan. If this is able to last half as long as my mum's circulon saute pan, I'd be happy, knowing full well I won't be lining Jamie Oliver's pockets with his sub-standard Tefal non-stick (hence why I went carbon steel years ago). For those who have issues with sticking, well, nothing is non-stick! If you can't control your caramalisation or Maillard reaction correctly, or provide a suitable substrate, then you deserve to get burnt food! You won't necessarily need an obscene amount of oil, such that Trump will want to invade your pan, but a sufficient quantity to help lubricate and conduct the heat. Obviously the specific heat capacity of the different materials will affect how your proteins and vegetables cook, but this is spot on.

Best pans ever!

I originally ordered the 10” pan and it arrived with one side dented badly. I returned it and then ordered the 12” pan because the 10” one was quite small inside. I’ve had the 12” pan now about a year and a half (possibly longer). It’s without a doubt the best non stick pan I’ve ever owned. I use the pan multiple times a week and the inside of the pan looks no different than when I bought it. It has no chips, scrapes, burned through areas or anything. I do only use silicone or wooden utensils with it and it’s always hand washed and dried. The handle is also in the same condition as new. I’ve used pans from T-Fal, KitchenAid, Calphalon, Cuisinart and various brands you’ll find at the big discount stores. I’d say none even come close to this when considering the non stick aspect. Generally not much will stick, but of course things will a little no matter what you’re using. But the clean up on this Circulon pan is great. Usually anything will just wash out and at most I’ll soak it on the stove top with some soap and water after things like messy burgers with some cheese. I’ve never once had a tough time cleaning the pan. Honestly they way I normally go through a “nonstick” pan I’m shocked just how good this coating is. It really does look like it did when it was new. So the only real knock I have on this pan is the outside, or at least the sides. The paint they use it either pretty thin or just not very durable. As I said I always hand washed and the pan is basically put away in a cupboard immediately after. I take good care not to bang them around and while they’re not dented, the paint on the outside has quite a lot of scuffing. Idk if that’s just from some knocking around in the sink or what but it’s not the best. This issue started pretty early on and just gradually increased. The bottom where it’s all metal is fine other than usual discoloration from the flat top stove which you’d expect. So if they had a better paint or powder coating (not sure which is used here) this would be a 10 star pan. With that issue said it’s still beyond a 5 star pan for me just because of the phenomenal performance and life span I’m getting out of it. So this is my personal review and opinions on this pan having owned and used it for a long time now. As a side note I also have one of the pots of the same series in the 3qt variety and I’m experiencing the same results on nonstick with that, but the outside still looks great likely because it’s smaller to handle and I usually wash, dry and store on the back of the stove.

Die Pfanne ist an sich toll...es klebt bisher nichts an und sie lässt sich leicht reinigen. Was mich allerdings sehr enttäuscht hat,dass sie nach ein paar Wochen Nutzung bereits verbogen ist. Das hätte ich bei der Qualität nicht erwartet. Bisher,und ich hoffe,das bleibt so,schränkt diese Deformation aber noch nicht ein,deshalb noch 4 Sterne

Main set of cookware is stainless steal Zwlling from Germany which I bought perhaps 15 years ago. Expensive at the time but well worth it. I love the set and when not needing not stick properties, these pans are the bomb. However, for nonstick, I swap out/replace pots and pans from time to time as they deteriorate. I have previously bought Jamie Oliver’s Tefal products. While the pots hold up ok, the fry pans keep getting trashed pretty quickly. I tried this Circulon pan to try to stop the cycle. Been using it for perhaps 4 or 5 months now and it seems to be holding up very well. I now plan and swapping out the Tefal products with Circulon going going forward.
