As a producer as well as a drummer, I've tried a lot of different bass drum heads over the years in search of good rock/alternative/punk/metal Kick Drum sounds. If you're looking for a good click, the bass drum's low end being allowed to come through but without a lot of resonance - these, especially tuned low, are what I choose every time I can. There are pre-damped heads out there too, such a Evan's Emad line, but I find they take away too much of the bass drum's thump and air of the attack, for want of a better explanation, and the Powerstroke 3 leaves those intact. I do pair this with a heavy blanket in the bottom of the bass drum, but always get compliments on bass drum tone, both in the room and mic'd up.

I have rated this a 5* as there is nothing wrong with the head or service. I didn't personally like the head (too dead) for my taste. I know I'm unique in this view as currently these heads are very popular.

Maximum thumpifacation. Feels great too, recommend this head.

This head is without doubt the best sounding head you can get for a Gong drum. I have a Pearl Masters and have tried different heads on the Gong but they all sound like I'm hitting an old couch. Not this guy. Crisp, deep and extremely resonant with a very subtle dampening with the patch. I use Moongel on other toms, but not on this guy now. Tuning can take a bit of time, as it should, but wow is all I can say.
