It is NOT matcha powder. It is bagged tea that you steep in the cup. **Q: What are the tea bags made of? Are they fabric or plastic?** A: I emailed ITO EN Customer Service (ITO EN (North America) Inc.) to ask what their teat bags are made of and here is their email reply: Thank you for your email regarding our tea bags. As a company with a legacy of over 50 years in business, we are committed to providing products that embody our five guiding principles of Natural, Safe, Healthy, Delicious, and Well-Designed. All of our pyramid tea bags (including our ITO EN Traditional and matcha LOVE tea bags) are made of food grade, BPA-free PET or nylon mesh that meet FDA regulatory requirements for hot beverage contact applications. We are also actively researching compostable and plant-based material options as part of our continued focus on environmental sustainability. If you would like to avoid using our nylon teabags while we research sustainable packaging solutions, we do offer a selection of loose leaf teas, which you can find on our website at the following link: hXXps://itoen.com /collections /loose-leaf . In addition, our ITO EN Oi Ocha, Hojicha, Genmaicha and Mugicha tea bags on our website use paper tea bags instead of our nylon tea bags. I travel to Japan every year, and this tea honestly brings me right back. I always miss drinking it when I’m not there, so having this at home is such a nice way to recreate that experience. The roasted rice flavor is a game changer—it adds a warm, nutty depth that makes the tea incredibly flavorful and comforting, not just your typical green tea.I also think it’s totally worth the price, especially compared to my local Japanese grocery stores, where it tends to be marked up quite a bit.If you’re a fan of Japanese teas or looking for something a little different, I highly recommend this. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely delicious tea in a tea bag!! *by on Reviewed in the United States June 19, 2026* Ito En is a very popular Japanese brand with a long history as a tea product producer. I was genuinely surprised how good this tea was even its in the tea bag form. Trained with a Japanese tea ceremony I’m very particular when it comes to the green tea. What makes this even more flavorful is the addition of the matcha. If you are a tea lover I highly recommend this especially if you love matcha. Tea bag is very convenient, too. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ O so delicious *by on Reviewed in the United States February 20, 2026* So i did not expect this to be so good! It's fresh good aroma and smooth. It is a little pale in color but I just want to stretch it out as much as I can and get the best value for my money. So it's a very refreshing drink.9 out of 10 ## Frequently Bought Together - ITO EN Oi Ocha Premium Japanese Matcha Genmaicha Green Tea - Tea Bags, 50 Count (Pack of 1) - ITO EN Oi Ocha Green Tea - Tea Bags 40ct - Ito En Traditional Matcha Green Tea 50 Count Zero Calories, Caffeinated --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/529229333-ito-en-oi-ocha-premium-japanese-matcha-genmaicha-green-tea](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/529229333-ito-en-oi-ocha-premium-japanese-matcha-genmaicha-green-tea) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-15*
