I Love Lucy Seasons 2, 3, and 4 reviews.
It would seem Amazon has something mixed up with the review sections on these 'I Love Lucy' season sets, and all the reviews from season 1-4 are all being put here, so here we go!Season 2 is where the 'I Love Lucy' series really gets great, and features many memorable episodes such as the infamous 'Job Switching' which is an iconic episode, and is one of the best moments in sitcom history, Lucy and Ethel make a bet with Ricky and Fred that they can hold down a job longer than they can take care of the house, and we all know how great and funny this episode is, also the second episode 'The Saxophone' is also a great episode, with Lucy trying to make it into Ricky's act after finding her old saxophone in the attic, 'The Handcuffs' is another highlight here, and the end scene produces some hilarious results, 'Redecorating' is another winner, and boy did Ricky get taken for a ride, and then of course we get to the pregnancy episodes, which is a big part of television history as Little Ricky is born which spans seven episodes is is absolutely fantastic, other highlights are 'Sales Resistance' which has always been a favorite of mine, 'The Inferiority Complex' is yet another highlight here, in which Lucy feels like she's inferior, and really puts on a show, 'Lucy Changes Her Mind' is another classic episode that I have highly rated on my chart, and who can forget Mrs. Porter in 'Lucy Hires a Maid', and 'The Ricardo's Change Apartments' is great as well, and another favorite of mine is 'Lucy Wants New Furniture' the scene where Lucy goes back and forth to the kitchen after buying new furniture which Ricky knows nothing about of course, to get eating utensils from her kitchen, while still trying to hide the furniture of course, 'Ricky and Fred Are T.V. Fans' is another favorite of mine, in which Lucy and Ethel end up getting arrested, and Ricky and Fred don't even know! 'Never Do Business With Friends' is a great way to close the season off, after Lucy convinces Ricky she needs a new washing machine, the Mertze's buy their old one, and when it messes up, the fued that goes on between the 4 is absolutely hilarious! Now CBS/Paramount has done an excellent job with these season sets, and nothing different is found here, I cannot believe how great these look, and I watched these on re-runs (I'm only 29) and they never looked anywhere near this good, and the audio is crisp and clear, as usual the flubs, radio shows amongst other things are the extras which I always look forward to with these sets, so another day, another great 'I Love Lucy' season, another great release buy CBS/Paramount, that about sums this up.Season 3 is another excellent season of this excellent and timeless series, which aired 10/5/1953 through 5/24/1954, and there's a lot of great episodes here, such as 'The Girl's Go Into Business' which is the episode where Lucy and Ethel buy a dress shop and it the only sales they make is to themselves, 'Equal Rights' which Lucy and Ethel want to be treated as if they were men, and Ricky and Fred pull a fast one on them, 'Baby Pictures' is another personal favorite of mine, 'Lucy Tells The Truth' is another favorite of mine, Lucy cannot tell a lie for 24 hours if she wants to win a bet with the Ricky, Fred and Ethel, and it ends up getting her in trouble, and I always like episodes that deal with painting or redecorating, so another favorite is 'Redecorating The Mertze's Apartment' which is classic comedy at it's best, you never put a fan where there's feathers! You know, I'm just going to keep going on and on, because personally, they are all favorites for me, there's many other classic episodes on this season such as 'The Million Dollar Idea' in which Lucy and Ethel go into business making 'Aunt Martha's Old Fashioned Salad Dressing' but when they realize how much work it takes, they think maybe this was a bad idea, 'The Charm School' is another stand out episode, Lucy wants to impress Ricky, so she decided to go to a charm school, and the results are hilarious! 'Home Movies' is always a classic, Lucy really messes up Ricky's movie that he wants to show to a big movie producer, 'Lucy Writes a Novel' 'Bonus Bucks' 'The Black Wig' 'Tennessee Ernie Visits' 'Tennessee Ernie Hangs On' and of course the classic 'The Golf Game' which every fan knows, great episodes, and as always, CBS/Paramount has done an excellent job with these 'I Love Lucy' seasons as the picture and audio are absolutely stunning, I can't believe how clear the picture is, and of course all the extras, and the packaging is great, this is absolutely the only way to have and watch this series, if you thought these episodes looked good in the re-runs in the 1990's, which they did, but you have seen nothing yet, once you watch them with these season sets, you'll never want to stop. Now onto season 4, which I just got today from Amazon, in this season, Lucy and The Gang go to L.A. and the whole season is all classic 'I Love Lucy' season 4 which aired 10/4/1954 through 5/30/1955, which finds many classic episodes such as the season premiere 'The Business Manager' which features Charles Lane who later appeared on the classic 'The Lucy Show' for it's first season as...the bank manager, ironic? Lucy thinks she's got it easy once Ricky hires a business manager to run things better, but Lucy does not have it so easy! in 'Ricky's Movie Offer' this is where the trip to L.A. begins, and it is absolutely a classic saga as it runs through the rest of the entire season, it's just brilliant how they wrote this and of course many classic Lucille Ball moments such as 'Lucy Learns to Drive' 'Getting Ready' 'Ricky's Contract' 'California Here We Come!' 'First Stop' 'Tennessee Bound' which the Ricardo's meet up with old friend 'Tennessee Ernie'! 'L.A. At Last' which is the one where Lucy lights her fake nose on fire, classic comedy! 'The Fashion Show' 'Hollywood Anniversary' 'In Palm Springs' 'Harpo Marx' which is the classic where Lucy tries to fool a friend by dressing up as a bunch of movie stars, but when the real Harpo shows up, things get really good! 'Ricky Needs an Agent' but not Lucy! Lucy decided to try to get Ricky more publicity, but when her antics get him removed from his contract, Ricky loses it! and of course the classic season finale 'The Tour' which is where Lucy and Ethel take a bus trip around L.A. and Lucy wants a grapefruit from Richard Widmark's tree, but gets caught, classic episode and what a way to end the season, as always CBS/Paramount delivers again, with the crisp clean audio and video, to the tons of extra's to the great packaging, this is worth my money, now all I need is seasons 5 and 6 and my collection will be completed, I also have the first 3 seasons of 'The Lucy Show' and the first 3 seasons of 'Here's Lucy' and from what I hear, 'Here's Lucy Season 4' will be released on March 29th this year, YAY, and also 'The Lucy Show Season 4' is scheduled for release in late April this year, YAY!Anyways, this is great classic comedy from TV's golden age, it's great collecting these seasons on DVD, they are well worth my money, and yours too!

Lucy Gives Birth, A Chocolate Factory & A Washing Machine!
Over 50 years ago during the early years of broadcast television, the very inspired talents of Lucille Ball (1911-1989) and her then husband Desi Arnaz (1917-1986) were showcased on their hilarious television show "I Love Lucy". TV execs had initially rejected the plausibility of the show because of Desi and because they intended to tape the shows. However, thanks to the tireless efforts of Lucille Ball and Desi's obvious talents, the show first aired in 1951 and quickly became one of the most successful TV shows during all six of its regular seasons. As Lucy and Ricky Ricardo on "I Love Lucy", Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz were joined by William Frawley (1877-1966) and Viviane Vance (1909-1979) as their best-friends/apartment landlords of Fred and Ethel Mertz. The second season of "I Love Lucy" that aired between 1952 and 1953 has 32 memorable episodes:1. "Job Switching": Lucy & Ethel get jobs at a chocolate factory, while Ricky & Fred try their hands at being "house-husbands" and cook up a large mess; a famous & very popular all-time favorite episode.2. "The Saxophone": Lucy's talent (or lack thereof) of playing the saxophone is showcased when she wants to join Ricky on a band tour.3. "The Anniversary Present": Lucy thinks Ricky is having an affair when he's really just trying to buy her a set of pearls.4. "The Handcuffs": Lucy & Ricky get handcuffed in what they thought were fake handcuffs.5. "The Operetta": Lucy writes an operetta for her woman's club to perform to raise money. Unfortunately, Lucy hasn't been very good managing the club's finances.6. "Vacation from Marriage": Lucy & Ethel take a vacation from Ricky & Fred.7. "The Courtroom": Ricky & Lucy purchase a new TV for Fred & Ethel's anniversary, but things go awry when the TV appears to need to be adjusted.8. "Redecorating": Lucy thinks that she's won new furniture and decides to give their apartment a wallpaper makeover.9. "Ricky Loses His Voice": Lucy takes advantage of Ricky's laryngitis to write a new show for Ricky's club.10. "Lucy is Enciente": Lucy tries to find the right way to tell Ricky that she's pregnant.11. "Pregnant Women are Unpredictable": Ricky tries to help Lucy in the house so that she can stay in bed.12. "Lucy's Show Biz Swan Song": Lucy 'says farewell' to show business during a "gay-90's" review.13. "Lucy Hires an English Tutor": Wanting their child to learn proper English, Lucy hires a tutor with the promise that Ricky will let him perform.14. "Ricky Has Labor Pains": Ricky feels neglected.15. "Lucy Becomes a Sculptress": Lucy takes up sculpting to provide an artistic environment for their coming child.16. "Lucy Goes to the Hospital": Ricky, Fred & Ethel practice to make sure they get Lucy to the hospital calmly and efficiently, and Ricky also has a voodoo show to do.17. "Sales Resistance": A salesman talks Lucy into buying a vacuum cleaner and Ricky is not very pleased. Lucy tries to resell it to "Mrs. Simpson" (Verna Felton, 1890-1966).18. "The Inferiority Complex": Lucy develops an inferiority complex, so Ricky hires a psychiatrist for help.19. "The Club Election": Lucy bribes a fellow club-member to be nominated for a coveted club position and ends up running against Ethel.20. "The Black Eye": Ricky accidentally gives Lucy a black eye, but Fred & Ethel don't believe the real story.21. "Lucy Changes Her Mind": Lucy has trouble making up her mind, including when dining out.22. "No Children Allowed": A frequent "I Love Lucy" recurring character is introduced: Mrs. Trumble (Elizabeth Patterson, 1875-1966).23. "Lucy Hires a Maid": Having difficulty taking care of the home & baby, Ricky tells Lucy to hire a maid, but who is really in charge: Lucy or the maid ("Mrs. Porter", played by Verna Felton again)?24. "The Indian Show": Lucy wants to be in Ricky's Native American show.25. "Lucy's Last Birthday": Lucy gets upset when she doesn't want anything special for her birthday and gets exactly that.26. "The Ricardos Change Apartments": Ricky & Lucy move into a larger apartment to have a separate nursery.27. "Lucy the Matchmaker": Lucy wants to help a friend find a mate, but Ricky doesn't want her to get involved.28. "Lucy Wants New Furniture": Lucy gets a new sofa & coffee table without Ricky's permission, so she tries to economize to pay for it.29. "The Camping Trip": Lucy goes camping with Ricky with Ethel's help.30. "Ricky's Life Story": An article in "Life" magazine about Ricky makes Lucy want to resurrect her own show business career desires.31. "Ricky & Fred Are TV Fans": Ricky & Fred are engrossed with a boxing match on TV and nothing that Lucy & Ethel do can change it; not even nearly getting arrested.32. "Never Do Business With Friends": Ricky gets Lucy a new washing machine. so Fred & Ethel purchase their old one, but it doesn't work as well as expected. (One of my favorite all-time episodes.)Paramount Home Video did a superb packaging job of putting all 32 second season episodes on 5 DVD's, thus shrinking the overall packaging size and reducing the price from the first season set. Overall, I rate the "I Love Lucy: The Complete Second Season" DVD box set with 5 out of 5 stars!

Lucy Thinks Ricky is Trying to Murder HerThe Quiz ShowThe AuditionThe Seanceの4話を収録。

STANDING THE TEST OF TIME
The humourous candour with which the "I LOVE LUCY" show explored the vagaries of modern marriage is well worth the price! Being pioneers in the development of modern television, DESILU was way ahead of their peers in the realm of early sitcoms in both the cutting edge of their comedy and the technological innovations that enabled their work to withstand the "test of time"! The only thing is I personally found tedious in this second volume, were the episodes dealing with the pregnancy and birth of "Little Ricky", no doubt due to the fact that I'm now a senior citizen and couldn't care less about that stage of life. Nevertheless, for newlyweds and young parents these shows humourously deal with the real issues of child bearing/rearing and their impact on the marital relationship. As such, SEASON 2 might make a great shower gift! For those considering purchasing "I LOVE LUCY", I'd give 5/5 to the subsequent seasons; ie, seasons 3-6. If "humour is the shortest distance between people", perhaps the laughter generated by the hijinks of this seminal TV series may serve to enrich countless marriages overwhelmed by the pressures of modern life, and hence well worth the price of the DVD's!

These DVD's were given as a gift for Valentine's Day - I used to love watching the I Love Lucy shows when I was a kid - you don't get to see them too often anymore and the comedy is still priceless, never goes out of style - very wholesome - these are in black and white like the original shows and you don't notice that they are - you just enjoy the shows - hours and hours of entertainment :) Nice to be able to watch them whenever you like - love the "Chocolate" episode - so many others to see - great buy! Delivery was super as usual - always arrives in good condition and usually before the expected date of delivery. Thank you.
