Secret WWE fan for a fiancé!
My fiancé is a secret lover of all things WWE, clinging on to his misspent youth and this went down an absolute treat. Arrived very promptly and it was at a great price. I had seen it in stores and it was a lot more expensive. Great deal and one happy partner.

Enjoyable if you can be patient amidst the repetition
So this is the other 10 episodes of the Monday Night War series that first aired on the WWE Network (see Volume 1 - Shots Fired for the first 10). It follows mostly the same pattern with each episode taking a particular subject and focussing on it for a little under an hour. Repetition is running wild again here so be prepared to see many of the same clips and sound bites MANY times. Despite that it's still engaging stuff for the most part, especially in the final few episodes that narrow the focus to the final stages of the war. After each episode there's a few comments from Eric Bischoff - his contributions here are a bit more interesting than those provided by Triple H and Sting on the previous release and it's good to finally have some fresh input from someone who was such a big part of this story. There's an additional 64 minutes of Blu Ray exclusive footage thrown in, none of which inspired me greatly to be honest but they're worth a look. This is a run down of the episodes and extras.....Monday Night Jericho - Jericho's always an engaging interview and there's plenty of input from him here as we look at his ups and downs during the war period. It's well worn territory (especially if you've read his excellent autobiographies) but enjoyable nonetheless. The War Gets Extreme - This ones refreshingly different, looking at a brief history of ECW during this timeframe and their impact on the content of Raw and Nitro. Bischoffs comments are interesting to say the least - from his point of view, the whole episode is rather redundant. The War Gets Electrified - So this ones about The Rock (obviously) and there's not much here you haven't seen before. It's still The Rock though so it's a fun hour.Divas Gone Wild - The ladies take centre stage in this one. Medusa, Sunny, Sable, Chyna, Lita, Trish, Steph etc. They're all here in a little look at how the women's roles have changed over the years. The focus is mainly on Raw and WWE.The War Goes Mainstream - Here we go with Vince McMahon's real ultimate goal in life - the mainstream crossover. This is an enjoyable look at the various ways the wrestling world has come head to head with mainstream celebrities. The likes of Tyson, Rodman and Leno feature heavily but there's much more too. The good, the bad and David Arquette......Building an Army - How ironic this episode is, being mainly about the theory of expanding the rosters and creating new stars underneath the top top guys. A pretty sound theory I'd say. We get a glimpse at what some other, slightly lesser seen fellas were up to - DDP, Booker T, The Giant/Big Show and the WWF tag team division amongst others. The Kliq - This looks at the five Kliq guys in the context of the war, for good and for bad. It bears similarities to the recent Kliq DVD/Blu Ray set, not to mention the NWO and DX episodes from this very series.Mistakes on the Battlefield - This ones about Bischoff and largely about the perceived mistakes he made in the latter days of the war. There's plenty of Ric Flair here too which is a bonus (he doesn't get his own episode in the series). The Fall of WCW - A direct sequel to the previous episode as the show finally becomes what many wanted it to be all along - a more chronological, detailed look at the finer points of the Monday Night War. Picking up from Bischoff being sent home, we now look at Vince Russo and the dying days of WCW.Life After Wartime - And finally it comes to a close with an interesting look at the last knockings of WCW, the botched Invasion angle and the later arrival of various WCW big names on WWF/E TV. These final few episodes proved to be some of the most compelling stuff of the series for me.And the extras......11/06/94 - Hulk Hogan WCW Contract Signing Parade - The hype exceeds the footage here, it's not the raucous, rabid reaction WCW would have you believe.05/10/96 - Paul Heyman Calls Into Livewire - A bizarre little segment with Russo, Heyman, Cornette, Hayes and Vince McMahon all involved briefly (oh and Sunny).29/03/98 - Post Wrestlemania 14 Press Conference - A strange blend of kayfabe and reality with Stonecold and Mike Tyson mainly. Look out for the famous footage of HBK arriving (uninvited), having a brief chat with Shane McMahon and then kicking the door open on the way out.18/06/98 - Bash at the Beach Press Conference - Rodman & Hogan v Malone & DDP Contract Signing - Curiosity value here but nothing of huge interest. The match would have been a more interesting inclusion......07/02/00 - Scott Steiner Thinks WCW Sucks - Steiner shoots on Ric Flair in a short (in)famous promo.14/04/00 - Mike Awesome v Tazz - ECW World Title - Not much of a match but a significant event. You probably know the story - WCW contracted performer v WWF contracted performer on an ECW event. And that's it for the Monday Night War.
