How can you get these to turn on with the smart plug? It seems to want to rely on its memory and won't turn on unless you hit its power button.

I have had that same question. I cant make it come on automatically using a smart plug. I cant even get it to work with it's buttons

Perpendicular to the pole it can be rotated from parallel to the floor to 90deg to the floor.

How long does the bulb last? Seems kind of wasteful if you have to throw out everything when the bulb goes out

I don’t know how long the bulb lasts. But trashing hardware because of lightning is not uncommon
