Super Versatile!
The media could not be loaded. I have been a professional mobile, nightclub and radio DJ since 1979 and have seen a ton of innovation over the years. One of the more interesting has been the advent of wireless, battery powered, Bluetooth connected speakers. Most have been made for the average music fan; kids, people throwing a home party, etc. This one brushes up against the professional arena in several ways.First and foremost, it's the most versatile unit I've seen this far; it boasts a built-in wireless mic with a jack for a second external mic which are controlled independently from the music output. (There's even a smidge of built-in echo!) This would, of course, allow this to be fed from a mixer or DJ console and used as a regular stand-alone speaker.It would be tough to not have music for this rig! You can connect it via Bluetooth to your phone or computer so you can jam your Spotify, Pandora, Tidal or other playlist, OR just switch over to USB or SD/TF playback and have it play your own music files. Don't have either? No problem: there's a built-in FM tuner, too. But, hey, you can read that in the ad. Here's what I learned playing with it....It's extremely light, even though it has a fairly hefty built-in battery. It has fairly decent sound; a far sight louder than comparable battery portables, but it doesn't have that freakishly low bass that some small speakers do. This is somewhat overcome by a bass control on the rear. It's about as good as can be expected from an 8" driver without some exotic (and expensive) sound baffling tech. The neat little LED screen on the back is a nice touch, too. To me, though, my favorite switch is the OFF switch for the LED light show on the face of the cabinet. It might be nice at a karaoke gig or a kids party, but I'm an old school "a speaker should be heard and not seen" kinda guy. Lastly, as shown in one of the photos, it fits nicely on a standard speaker stand. I would be comfortable using this box for a small wedding ceremony or, with two of them, a smaller wedding reception or house party. Depending on your demands, this might just be the perfect portable speaker. I'm happy to have it in my audio arsenal!
