Will this keep my head from turning to the side while sleeping on my back?

Do I need a separate pillow case to cover?

It has a cover on it much like one that would cover a memory foam mattress pad. It has a zipper in it so could be removed and washed. I use a satin pillow case on mine because of the texture. It doesn't fit well due to the pillow being oddly shaped but it does work.

I want to buy one but feel the smell. Does it smell good?

I left it out for a few hours, and put a clean pillowcase on it right after. I didn't notice any scent other than the smell of my detergent.
