This is our handcrafted bed frame, made with solid redwood pine. The headboard posts are 125cm (47.5") high, while the foot end posts are 66cm (26") in height, with the top of the board sitting a few cm below. The solid pine panels are a chunky 3.5 cm (1.35") thick and the four corner posts are 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4"), making it an extremely solid piece of furniture. As with all our beds, there are no clips or brackets supporting the side rails, as these tend to bend over time. Instead, the side rails slot deep into the posts. As a result, it should be as strong in ten years time as on the day it is purchased! We use solid wooden slats for the base, rather than thinner plywood sprung slats. The central reinforcing rail is independent of the slats, so can be positioned immediately below, to either give the slats no give whatsoever, or a tiny bit lower, to allow some flexibility in the base. This also means that over time, the slats won't droop in the middle, as the middle rail will act as a constant buffer. The wood can be left unfinished, stained, waxed or oiled. The first bed in the photos is a super king and has been finished with a rosewood stain, the last bed is a single and had been finished with a medium oak stain. Please find the full specifications below.
