I chose these artificial tears because I have dry-eye, and my doctor said to make sure the lubricant didn't have any preservatives! These are preservative free, and have a silky smooth feel in your eyes, with a controlled opening! Truly make a difference! Great product!

My eye surgeon advised me to use preservative-free eye drops several times a day. I'd happily been using Refresh gel, switched to the expensive, preservative- free vials (about 15% of the gel ones were empty). Systane was highly rated, easy to use (applicator doesn't poke my eye), soothing, and a more affordable alternative with less packaging.

I’ve been using the original version of Systane Ultra (with preservatives) for years and always found it effective. When I saw the preservative-free version selling for the same price, why not try it? Here’s why not. In order to prevent contamination, a one-way valve is at the top of the bottle. I find that the drops it produces are too big, causing water to run down my face. And you need to remember to shake off a drop that is always left clinging to the top. So I find it less convenient and they will run out faster. I will switch back to the old formula with preservatives. If I was sensitive to the preservative, I’d use this version. It works OK, just with a little added annoyance.

I need to use eye drops throughout the day for my dry eyes, so preservative free makes good sense. However, I never like the small single-use disposable vials. This bottle, incorporating a new technology to allow it to be preservative free in a standard size bottle is great. The drops feel good in my eyes and do not blur my vision. Very pleased. Note: be sure to read the instructions about shaking the bottle before use and then flicking it after use so no drops remain on its tip.

After having PRK eye laser surgery, these eye drops are gentle on the eyes. Let it be known that the reason the it's harder to get the drops out is because the dropper must be more secure, and not allow contaminants to get into the bottle because it's preservative free. This is a huge factor for the solution in the bottle to remain fresh, nor does it have tons of preservatives to make it last longer. You will also notice that the expiration date on a preservative free bottle has a shorter duration is also because it's preservative free. (In general, anything that lasts a long time, does so because it has preservatives!) In terms of "travelability," if you're going up in an airplane, it might evaporate faster just because the air is dryer, so make sure you secure the lid well. In general, I find this brand to be effective in terms of having dry eyes regularly and it providing the soothing effect that is needed.

I have used these drops for over a year now, starting after lasik eye surgery. They are very hydrating and make my eyes feel better within a few seconds. Always a re-purchase!
