You do get a lot for your money here. The included gels can soften the light and also change the colour tone. The brightness adjuster works very well supplying everything from very bright to barely on. The build quality of the lamp units is okay, the plastic might not stand up to the lamp stand being knocked over. The barn doors are highly reflective and help to focus the light as needed. They hold whatever position you set nicely.The stands are great. I use them at their lowest height setting sat on the desk to illuminate whatever I'm filming on the desk. The stands are about 40cm at their lowest and just over a meter at their highest. They are quite light too if you need to be travelling with them.I doubt the plastic hinges and fittings are the toughest but if you treat them carefully they will last well.I use them for doing video reviews and they get rid of the shadows nicely.I hope you've found this review helpful. This is a fantastic buy! If you are just starting out or need something small and light that is still powerful, I would highly recommend this item. It was well packaged and arrived sooner than expected.( I received no perks or benefits for this review, it is 100% my sincer and honest opinion )

Short tripod but powerful. Do remark that it will need a special Sony Video camera battery to function. Personally I choose the monster size of 7900 mAh. for NP-F970/F950/F930This is a kickass battery that deliveres 3.5 hour of 100% power from the lamp.Plastic seems like it will break if it hits the floor, and the tripod is only 2-3 feet tall.. So execpt of that it's ok.

Can't test the actual light as I was going to use with rechargeable AA batteries. I have loads of them due to powering speedlights. (I am a photographer).This unit does NOT take AA batteries. I don't know if it's an updated model. It can be powered by a mains adapter though. But I think uou need to have a battery fitted for it to work.

There is a lot of good about these lights: the body is nicely designed, because it does not accept AA batteries it's thinner, the barn doors are great, filters are convenient and the lights are bright. Sony NP-F batteries are cheap and easy to get. I would give 5 stars for the body.However, the Bestlight W160 has a strong green color cast. This means that it is impossible to mix it with ambient lights and the colour cast is still visible with my white-balance set (in-camera A6300) completely to magenta to compensate. If you don't use custom white-balance, these are completely unusable, but even with custom white-balance it will make people have a slight green in their skin.

I changed my mind after using this product. I was miffed when no batteries arrived and I could not use them immediately, but now I got the batteries I am very happy. In future pack the batteries with the lights, charge extra or offer me the option to buy with batteries.

I have used these lamps a lot, but what was not made clear when I ordered the lamps was that these needed special batteries and not the AA type so check this out when ordering. The newer version is different to the older version and has plastic barn doors, instead of metal. The light is balanced to match daylight (56k) so it can be used with the cameras daylight setting. It also has other filters, to match tungsten light (32k) The barn doors allow control over how the light is directed, but at the edges of the cutoff; the light is stepped. this cutoff line matches the rows of LEDs. This is typical of a multi LED lamp. The stands it came with did not fit the lamps because there was no threaded fixing, so I had to drill these out and thread them myself. For me it was easier than returning them! These battery lamps are ideal for location work, they are reasonablly robust and they do the job, but need a large battery and fully charged spares! a single lamp can be mounted on top of the camera. or two lamps on a bar, either side of the camera. When two lamps are used; use the diffusers and set one lamp at a lower setting to avoid double shadows. More fun can be obtained by mounting the lamps on the stands in a darken room and using coloured gells. (purchased separately) Light from under the chin for spine chilling effects! The use of 2 lamps is ideal for table top photography. use bits of card to block or reflect light. Boot fairs are a good source for finding bits to photograph.

wonderful, ultra slim, very solid, very very bright, but the stands are very small. I use them on Banquet tables for light studio/portable Studio duty, otherwise a fabulous set.

Alors, la lumière est très forte est réglable, avec la manette à l’arrière, deux pour ceux prix c'est vraiment une bonne occasion.Livré avec 3 filtre qui s’insère sur le côté ( il faut rabaissé complètement le réflo du côté pour mettre la plaque sans la raillé)Comme livré sans batterie, ni même alimentation filière, j'ai prit les batterie conseillé, (pour l'instant fonctionne très bien).Alors les petits défauts, le bouton "test" fonctionne une fois sur deux pour vérifier la quantité d'énergie dans la batterie, et l'affichage qui est censé nous indiqué la quantité ne fonctionne pas continuellement du coup, faut du bol pour affiché la quantité.Le trépied est assez petit (mal à moi qui n'est pas vraiment pensé a vérifier la taille de ce dit trépied) mais peut toujours être utile.
