There's a great sense of movement here
I cannot get over how utterly stunning the artwork in this book is. Even for non-readers, or if you just want to page through for something to look at, there is something arresting and intricate on every page. You could leave this on your coffee table and have something to look at every time you opened it. Rubin is an artist who delights in the details, and the way he focuses each panel allows you to find something new and interesting and then, eventually, the dinosaur trying to run out of the book. There's a great sense of movement here, and Rubin pays special attention that one panel flows in the next in order to create a graphic novel that flows from one scene to the next. And the story! There's a lot of great things to pull about a dinosaur hiding in New York, but the thing I loop back to is that it reminds us about the world and that kids will notice things adults have long tuned out. Sure, we can also view this as a reminder to pay attention to this dust ball we're spinning on, but it's also a an important reminder that children (while in possession of a great wealth of imagination) often try and tell us things we don't listen to. And it's important to listen to them because maybe the neighbor IS a dinosaur.

FANTASTIC Read
This book is INCREDIBLE. The illustrations are SO rich and beautiful, they could be torn out and framed on their own. Seriously, each page is a work of art. If your kids love dinosaurs (and even if they don't) they will adore this book. I believe firmly in children's books having strong, positive, learning messages, and this heartwarming story goes over and beyond. I also really enjoy that it's written as a chapter book, so it's easily digestible and you can read a chapter a night before bedtime. This book is great for both kids and adults, and is an instant classic. All of my young cousins and friend's children are getting this for the holidays, and I can't wait to read it with them!!

Bolivar is one of my favorite books ever
Bolivar is one of my favorite books ever! The illustrations are so exceptional it almost doesn't do them justice to describe them in words. The main human character, Sybil (seen on the cover of the book) is so heartwarming and endearing. Every character adds to the book sometimes in hilarious ways, Bolivar, the dinosaur, is priceless, too. Every page of the book is meticulously drawn with so much thought and intention, I purchased copies of this book for grandchildren ages eight, seven and five for Christmas gifts. This is a book for boys as well as girls and adults as well as children.Bolivar is an absolute treasure and deserves to be a classic shared from generation to generation, You do not have to live in New York City or be interested in dinosaurs to enjoy this book. This book is above and beyond time and place. It is a book of the heart and what it means to be truly human and truly yourself living in a world of so many distractions, Of course the book is about so much more, but other reviewers cover that information very well, I am going to purchase a copy of Bolivar for myself, It is a book to read and reread because each time you discover something new, I love this book!!

Delightful for an unusually broad age range
We're on our third copy already as this turns out to be a good gift for a lot of young families.I've watched chapter-book-level grade schoolers read it cover to cover as a lengthy, age-appropriate graphic novel, their pre-reading younger siblings dig it as a big and fascinating picture book, and adults (especially adults who have visited or lived in NYC) enjoy it as a coffee table book with whimsical illustrations of real scenes of life and tourism in the big city.

Best children’s book of the year!
Bolivar is a beautifully illustrated story that obviously comes out of a deep love for New York City and its people. I can’t imagine a bettter story to illustrate to my own kids the importance of paying attention—truly noticing the people around us. Filled with layers of illustration, meaning, and humor, I’m sure we’ll be rereading for years to come. This is one bedtime story that’s just as great for parents as for kids!

Exceptional book! Bought several copies for gifts and everyone totally loved it!
This book is phenomenal - in a class by itself! Never before have I seen such a children’s book that is also a top quality coffee table book! The artwork is beyond amazing, and the story delightful. I read it to my young grandchildren (ages 5 and 3) as soon as it arrived and when I finished all 200 plus pages, they immediately asked if we could read it again! We have read it several times together since and it has not lost any of its appeal. I will continue to give this beautiful book as a gift to all ages

Incredible art, great story. Love!
Sean’s book is rich in all dimensions. Story, characters and the art. Incredible. I come back through these pages over and over seeing things for the first time again and again. As a parent, there is so much to enjoy and my kids can’t get enough.Side note - love the art museum with actual masterpieces reproduced within the story.

Gorgeous illustrations, sweet story, worth having in hard cover!
I've been looking forward to my copy for a while now, and Bolivar did not disappoint! I had seen sneak previews on the author's page, but you really can't grasp the gorgeous illustration until you see that they are on every. single. page. If you're familiar with New York, you'll be dazzled by how easily the graphics transport you to familiar places; if you're not familiar, consider this the best priced tour you can take!Sybil and Bolivar are both sweet, and I found myself wanting to be friends with them! I'm looking forward to reading this with my son when he's old enough to not try to destroy the pages, and he'll definitely grow into being able to read it on his own.I say get the hard cover - no offense to e-books, but this needs to be savored and lingered over. It's prominently on my shelf now, and several guests have thumbed through it, enjoying the illustrations without reading the full story - so it's a nice little conversation starter as well!

Interesante, quizas un poco largo al final.
Interesante, quizas un poco largo al final. Las últimas 20 páginas sobran. El libro enseña paisajes de la ciudad de New York y tiene una historia curiosa y divertida para niños.
