The Railway Children (Young Reading (Series 2)): 1

Bought for 2 children when they were 3 and 5. Both had seen the film and one the stage production and they boh like it being read to them. It's a good progression book as in time I am hoping they will both read it on their own whilst learning to read.

My primary school teacher Miss Stevens read this to us one chapter at a time 40 years ago. I bought this book to read to my kids because I remembered how much we enjoyed it. I didn't expect I'd have to explain what railways and petticoats were, and why the train needed coal! But she is just as taken with the story as I was, and couldn't wait for the next chapter.

This version of the Railway Children has proved absolutely perfect for my 6 year old granddaughter who is becoming a very confident reader.

Good early reader and intro to literature.

In your selection of images there is the photo from the text which helped me to decide this was the correct level for my readers. When the book arrived it was much more simple and that page was nowhere in the book.
