Daakro AK45 Stereo Audio Amplifier, 300W 2-Channel Bluetooth 5.1

Bought this to connect my 35 year old Bose 901's to my ROKU for a home theater system. Was going to get a sound bar but thought since I have these awesome speakers why not use them! It works GREAT for this application! The FM stereo is a bonus as well. Connected easily to my ROKU and seems to stay connected well. Time will tell, but I have awesome sound for now for 30 bucks!! It's small and light enough that I can set it on top of one of the speakers so I don't use any space at all.

LET ME TELL YOU THIS! What a great little receiving device, its compact , has a freaking remote controll, its nice to look at and once you know what it looks like, the blue indicator and accent light make it incredibly easy to see night or fay from a distance, so I've placed it in my garage 20 feet from my decks gazebo were we spend out tome in the summer, i turn on my phones bluetooth and it locks right in on the device, we're listening to metal blues all night in the back ground. It has enough power to power up the two steroids speaker I mounted out side and when my neighbors are playing their RAP CRAP, I raise the volume, this was a cost effect way to get tunes to the porch and out doors . It was also a fast delivery

I didn't buy this as stand alone amplifier. I have a Pheanoo 15 soundbar for my 75" Samsung TV. The sound bar came along with a 4" ported subwoofer (box shown in photo). After 2 years of use the subwoofer foam surround started to detach from the cone and sounded horrible. So I am innovative so this is what I did. I cut the cloth covering the speaker then pulled the blown 4" subwoofer. I was surprised it was rated for 4 ohms instead of the usual 8 ohms for home use. The blown speaker was rated for 40 watts and I assumed it was 40 watts RMS. Now I could have bought a 4" sub rated for 4 ohms and just hooked it up and been done with it. But I had a pair of 6.5 inch component speakers from an old car installation that was rated for 30 watts RMS 300 watt Max and obviously 4 ohms. So what I did was cut the ported box for the 6.5 inch to fit into. Problem solved I had the bass back and worked just a tiny bit better than the 4" factory subwoofer. But gears started turning in my brain and said if one speaker is just a little better and I have a second speaker from the pair two speakers would be better. So I started searching for little amps on amazon and to my surprised I came across this little Daakro AK45 and it was rated for the almost the exact rating as my 6.5" JVC component speakers, 40 watts RMS and 300 watt max. Perfect match and for the price i couldn't beat it so I bought it! To make it work for my application I cut the 2 wires running to the subwoofer box and spliced in 2 male RCA connectors from my old junk wire drawer. The wires I cut were clearly labelled + and - so I stripped the cut RCA connections and wired the positive wire to both positive wires for the RCAs and the same for the negative. Put it on Aux and turned on the TV and soundbar and the soundbar fed the input through the RCA connections to the amp and the amp fed that signal to the replacement speakers. It worked but this is where it got tricky with trial and error. I was getting signal after matching the input level by ear ( I couldn't find my Oscilloscope) when I shut off the TV and the soundbar shut off I would get a buzzing sound though the 2 speakers the amp fed. Now when the TV and sound bar is on and muted there is zero distortion or buzzing noise. It wasn't super loud but bothersome none the less. So I started turning the power switch off on the amp at night when not in use. But when I turned it back on and the TV and soundbar kicked on it would distort out bad and the input level didn't match up like I had it set, it was way to high. Now i fought this for day until I realized there is actually 2 different input levels for this amp. There is the analog dial which I was adjusting and there is a remote that came with it. When u turn it up and down with the remote it ranges from 0-30 digitally, the analog dial doesn't change, there is a digital level. Regardless of what you set the digital level to when you power the amp off with the power switch then turn it back on the digital input gets reset to the maximum of 30! This explains why I could never maintain proper input level matching! Now I understand that using spliced RCA connectors from a high level input source without a high to low input adapter isn't ideal, that could very well be why I'm getting the buzzing sound when the TV gets turned off. But when I turn the digital input to the middle which is 15 and then set the analog input dial I get way better sound with more bass and no distortion. I have a high to low input adapter sitting in my wife's old vehicle from an old car audio installation so I'm gonna rob that to see if it resolves the distortion I get when TV is turned off. And if it is resolved I will update this review but doubt it will be. It could be just the type of sound bar I have who knows but i wish this amp didn't have 2 separate input levels of digital and analog and since it does I wish they had some kind of constant wire to retain memory of where the digital input level was set when powered off manually with the switch. But my review is for the money your not gonna find much better for the money and for the abilities such as radio and bluetooth and Aux. But if your planning on buying this and powering any kind of real 3 way home entertainment speaker ya know a tweeter a mid level component and a subwoofer this product isn't what your looking for. 40 watts RMS isn't even as powerful as most car radio head units that are rated for 50 watts per channel. Yes it will give you sound but it will not move and real home 8 ohm subwoofer in a 3 way or 4 way speaker configuration. I'm very surprised its handles 4 ohm speakers, most home audio is 8 ohm or higher. For those who don't understand what ohms are they are basically the resistance for the amplifier encounters when converting the input signal to usable power. The lower the ohm of the speaker the lower resistance the amp encounters to produce the power to the speakers. A typical 8 ohm home speaker will encounter double the resistance to get power from this amplifier compared to a 4 ohm speaker. If you have 8 ohm speakers of any real power handling capacity I would strongly discourage this product. Don't focus on the 300 watt Max Rating, focus on 40 watts RMS rating but I assume that would be the RMS for a 4 ohm speaker and not an 8 ohm speaker or higher. Now there is a way to change the ohm resistance that the amp encounters when wiring speakers that is typically for a dual voice coil subwoofer or when wiring speakers in series which this product wouldn't be for an application such as that. P.S. If using this for the application I did, my soundbar had built in low pass crossover to block out the high frequencies from reaching the speaker but still turn the treble all the way down. Now if I wanted to listen to the radio or use the bluetooth or SD cards I can get high frequencies from my speakers since they are component speakers but my primary use is for my TV soundbar. If I listen to music its thru apps like Spotify or Pandora

Initial tests: It is very light, not like older stereo equipment I’ve used. Wired it to some new 8 ohm 2-way speakers. I used the FM radio, the Bluetooth to my iPhone, RCA jacks to a 3.5mm headphone jack to my old iPod. Even the USB thumb drive with some MP3 files in the root folder. Tested the play/pause button, skip button, back button. Treble and Bass knobs. All worked great. Good volume knob. Bluetooth was a little slow for my iPhone to recognize. But it eventually worked. Things you should know: good on/off switch. Nice big volume knob. This is what you’ll use the most. I’m putting this in my kitchen with new ceiling speakers so ease of use for the whole family is important and is very good. No need to read a manual. However: MP3 play order is random. It is a cheap Chinese product. Meaning packaging is cheap and micro manual is clearly translated from poor Chinese. Example: “3. Play music, turn to phone call mode or turn to the other voice for amplification, no. When this device is needed for amplification, you can switch the bluetooth mode on the phone to the receiver. Mode is ok.”

I bought it to replace an existing stereo amp. The sound quality is great. The price is awesome. But 2 things made me take a star. However, these issues may cause a much lower rating if it was in use in different settings. The 3-star rating is only for my current situation. First, the Bluetooth range is quite short. The unit wouldn't connect well at first. So I moved the Bluetooth adapter to the computer that was closer to the unit. This time, it connected fine. But the sound would stutter. So I moved the card to the computer that was closest to the unit. The Bluetooth connected easily and the sound quality was great without any stutter. In fact, it was better than when I used the previous amp. However, the old unit used to be able to connect to the computer that was farthest away without any issues. Perhaps the Bluetooth antenna makes the difference. The old unit had a Bluetooth antenna whereas this unit didn't. The closest unit is about 15 ft away. 2nd closest unit is about 25 ft away. The farthest one is about 35 ft away. There isn't any obstruction between the computers and the unit. Perhaps this unit's Bluetooth isn't 5.0. The old unit (Bluetooth version 2.0) was able to connect to the same adapter when it was plugged into the farthest unit. I'm keeping it in spite of the problem because it's functioning fine and for $35, it's good enough. The second problem is remote control. No, battery isn't the problem. The power button works fine. But the volume control doesn't work at all and the mode button works intermittently. Again, this isn't a problem for me because I'm using this unit to play music all day in a retail business setting. So I don't need to manipulate volume or change modes. I just turn it on in the morning and turn it off at night. So I'm keeping it as is. However, this would pose a big problem in a lot of different settings. So beware. I'd have returned the unit if I were to use it for personal use. The 3-star rating was given for my current situation. Update: As of March of 2025, the unit is caput. Initially, I got plenty of distortion and thought it might be the wire or the speakers themselves. Did the trouble shooting and turns out it was this amp. While waiting for the new amp to arrive, it gave out completely one channel at a time. At this time, it is completely dead. That was 15 month lifespan for 30 some dollars. I guess that's not terrible considering the price.

Very nice with tons of possibilities. My immediate use is for the rear speakers in my surround sound system. I’m switching over from the 3 in the front, 2 echo speakers in the back with a subwoofer to live speakers in the rear. I’d always operated the rear speakers in I think they call it 5.1 mode where the rear speakers are simply a delay of the front speakers. When I’d bought them, there was no 7.1 mode but the speakers were a good quality and I’d always thought that I’d wasted a little money buying such a quality speaker for that purpose. A couple of years ago I purchased a new receiver and didn’t pay attention to it’s long list of applications. I later realized it supported 7.1 sound so with a separate amplifier, they could be fully integrated into the surround sound system. This amp did all that and more. I’m not currently using the Bluetooth functionality but plan to set that up as well in the near future. Don’t let the size of the amplifier throw you off. It’s very powerful and puts out some real power for clear and crisp sound. The size makes it possible to put the amplifier close to the reciever without even knowing it’s there. I have been able to connect to it pretty easily from a 2 room away range within my typically sized ranch style home.

Audio is clear and the options work perfectly and Bluetooth works like a regular radio receiver and fits anywhere looks amazing and works perfectly

I use this only to provide an upgrade to the internal speakers on a bedroom TV. Even with small bookshelf speakers, it sounds better than the TV speakers. I have a 'smart' surge protector into which I plug the amp and a small DVD player. Turning on the TV turns on the amp and DVD player. I do not use the FM radio function. While it claims Bluetooth compatibility, it will not connect to the TV via Bluetooth. As a matter of fact, it does not appear in the TV menu for Bluetooth devices. I did not try to connect my telephone to the amp. It DOES provide RCA input jacks, with which I was able to use to connect the TV. It does NOT have automatic level control, and variable audio output levels vary from streaming service to streaming service. The same goes for fixed audio output -- the TV output is fixed, but the audio signal level varies from service to service. In addition, there seems to be a conflict between the IR signals from the amplifier remote control. Using the amplifier remote's volume control to reduce volume works fine. Using the remote to increase volume results in backtracking movie playback on HBO Max, different incorrect functions on YouTube videos, and a 10-seond backup of movies on Amazon Prime Video. I usually leave the amp volume maxed and change levels with the TV remote. It's not a vintage Marantz or MacIntosh, but it's adequate for TV audio.
