Parker SRX Heavy Duty Professional 100% Stainless Steel Straight Edge Razor Requires Replaceable Blade

I wanted to replace my Dovo Shavette (the blue aluminium one) that had served me well for three years, and was looking for something 'sturdier' and plastic-free when I came across this one.It comes in stainless steel and the build quality is solid. Rust or corrosion should not be a problem, even if you are a bit relaxed with the cleaning of the shavette after your shave. The blade holding mechanism is simple and does the job perfectly, although it may take a few attempts to get your technique right. Better be very careful and do not do this in a rush on your first attempts! The weight of the blade is good, definitely on the heavier side of the average shavette. I find that it actually helps with using less pressure during the shave, as the weight of the blade is often enough, so that one just has to guide and angle it properly.My only criticism is maybe that the point could be shaped more in such a way that the toe gets closer to the edge of the blade (mine has a ~2mm gap there), so that perfecting your contours (side burns, etc.) is easier. But other than that, I would recommend this blade to everyone.I will soon also purchase a real straight razor, so the Parker Shavette will then become my travel razor, as the comparably short blades should not be rejected when kept in hand baggage.

I’ve shaved with a DE for some while and got curious about using a straight. I went for this one as it is all stainless steel. First impressions are of good build quality and a slightly fiddly blade load but that’s a minor point.I’d recommend folks use a DE for a few months before this razor type as it gets you used to blade angles but so long as you keep this in mind you’ll be fine.The key with this razor is feather light pressure and it will do it’s job. Paired with an Astra and Pro Raso Green soap blade my first shave went well. One weeper but otherwise all good.Take your time. I’d not use this for a hurried Monday am shave yet as my technique (lack of) means I need to take time. This razor will therefore be a sat or sun “treat” shave.In terms of performance , two passes one with the grain and one across gave me a fine shave. It doesn’t match my favourite DE quite but then I had to learn that one too. After shave feel is however way better than any cartridge I ever tried.My honest feeling here is try this. Watch a geofatboy vid first he’s great at demos if you’re not sure. I think I am going to rather relish shaving the manly way 😀.

Still getting used to using the shaver, as normally use (tripple blade) safety razor, will save so much money in time, not buying top brand replacement blades.

A great razor, well made and feels great quality. Ensure you use a good quality razor blade in it and always dry it properly after use.

Nice quality and heavy feel to it which was nice, fitting the blade can be tricky - but once you get used to that a nice product
