I came here looking for a new network card compatible with ESXi7. I purchased the "EXPI9301CT (1x RJ45 Port) Compatible" option and I can confirm that it is working with a stand-alone ESXi 7.0 U3 running in my homelab. For context, the hardware is a Dell G5 5000 Desktop repurposed for virtualization. Whats important is that I installed this NIC into an available PCIe slot and upgraded via a bootable USB/ISO to 7.0 and the Network interface was automatically picked up and the upgrade from 6.7U3 to 7.0.0 was simple and successful. I later performed an update via zip archive to the latest build (7.0U3) and it also went smoothly. I'm confident you could start by upgrading to the newest build, but that's just not how I ended up doing it. If you are held back on installing VMware ESXi 7.0.1 in a home lab or low-power production environment because of “no network adapters found” this is the card for you. It has the intel 82574L chipset as promised that is on the VMware HCL and I even inspected it for that chip when it got here, even tho it was clearly written on the box it came in. Popped it in and VMware installed without fuss. Ran good on the windows server 2016 I had running on this machine a few moments ago too. No hiccups whatsoever.

Work great with truenas scale, no drive issues

Neither of the NIC ports on my new install of the Asus ProArt z790 creator mobo would make a solid connection to my fiber internet. Out of frustration I opted to bypass those two ports and installed this card, and it was perfect. Installation was very simple and the connection was up to speed and very stable.

This card worked well for my needs. I had to migrate a server and I simply could not find drivers for the onboard NIC to preload for ESXI. Literally saved the day. Did not require drivers for ESXI 7 and then worked great with no special setup for TrueNas.

Bought this for homelab. Detected right away with default ESXi 7 install.
