Razer BlackShark V2 Pro Wireless Gaming Headset, 70 Hr Battery, Black

I've had these for a little over two months now and they are working amazing and feeling great! For reference, I am a small person who wears glasses and has a sensitivity to loud noises, so if you're in a similar boat, then these will work well for you! Pros: * Comfort: These headphones are really light, but sturdy. They don't put too much tight pressure on my ears or head (which helps when wearing glasses) and don't make me sweat either. They stay on my head pretty well too. * Noise Cancelling: The noise cancellation is pretty good, but that is kind of subjective for people. Most dull noises (like fans, cat fountains, air conditioners, outdoor noises, etc.) will be cancelled out by this when sound is coming through. I can hear people talking if they come in the room, but it's very easy to drown them out and I sometimes will hear them, but not understand them. This won't block out all of the loud noises out there, but it will lessen them considerably. I'm personally fine with this level, but I live in a mostly quiet home. This might be a downside for those with barking dogs, noisy kids, etc. * Quality Microphone: This microphone picks up my voice well and I sound clear and good when I play with friends. It will pick up quite a bit of noise though, even from a distance (like my cat meowing across the house), but I wouldn't say that's the mic's fault and instead my software's noise filtering capabilities. There are probably more things I could do for it or advance settings I can mess with, but for my needs it isn't important and my friends don't mind. A big thing I like is that the microphone piece is detachable, so I can actually get into more comfortable head positions if I want when I'm just by myself. Plus if the mic gets bad, I can just replace one piece rather than the whole headset. * Bluetooth Freedom: I got this so that way I could see what it's like enjoying a cordless lifestyle. I've heard mix things about Bluetooth headphones in the past that were made for computers rather than phones, but I have not been disappointed. It doesn't really have a high range (about maybe 30 feet?) before it starts cutting out here and there, but I can go to my kitchen or even sit outside and not have any issues. It's really nice being able to grab a quick snack or make a meal and still chat with people instead of having to step away. It would be nice if this had just a bit more range to it, but for now it works. * Low Light Profile: I get that people enjoy RGB colors and all, but when I'm gaming at night, I don't want bright lights affecting my peripherals as I play. The only lighting this headset has is a green power indicator light that is pointed downward and provides minimal light. That might make it a little dull for some, but I'm not bothered by it. * Good Volume Range: These headphones can get pretty loud or quiet (quiet being the important part), which I personally enjoy. I listen to heavy rock or punk music sometimes, and unfortunately that music can get too loud for my liking and I had struggled to find headphones that could get low enough without having to be muted. It's common that I find headphones or earbuds that can't get low enough for the louder music out there, but I haven't had an issue with this one. There is a good balance of being able to get low enough for loud songs, but also high enough for quiet songs. Cons: * Connectivity Issues: Occasionally (but rarely) the headphones might disconnect from my computer even though I haven't unplugged the USB from it. It's not every day, and it's only happened maybe twice now since I've had them. It's never when in active use, just when I want to use them. I can turn them off or charge them and once I'm ready to use them it'll be fine, but this just sometimes happens. However, I don't believe it's entirely the headset's fault, as the same thing happens with my Xbox Bluetooth controller. Might just be a computer issue. * Low-Sound Popping Issues: These headphones seem to struggle with super quiet noises. It feels like instead of these headphones staying on to play any sound that comes, it almost shuts off when there is perceived silence or lags when very faint noises are projected. If you turn up your volume, even just a little, you won't have that issue, but it is something I notice when listening to music. That does mean though that songs that get super quiet and then really loud will probably suck depending on the difference in scale.

Broke after a bit but I guess that’s what these headsets do

I bought these brand new September 2023. First off, a detachable microphone on a wireless headset is super rare nowadays. This headset was among the best Ive ever had. The microphone noise cancellation is superb. I get clear quality audio output with a Lasko Windmachine fan a foot away from the microphone on max, and no interference. Hands down one of the the bests microphone technology for a headset on the market to date. BUT As seen in the images, the headset has severe structural issues. The plastic seen falling apart (or that has fallen apart) is doing so because it cannot resist the flexing headband, so its crumbling from the tension. Ive have NEVER dropped this headset. That area has never suffered an impact and I am the only one ever around the headset. The headset cost me $200 USD, easily one of the priciest headsets on the market. And they designed it with that weak flaw and didn't look back. Now I wouldn't be so dissatisfied if this headset were modular and the parts were easily replaceable. When the first part snapped off while i was sitting still for hours i thought it was a simple fix. I bought Loctite Plastics super glue with Activator, still on the way (haven't applied it). But then suddenly today, the incident in the second image happened while I was working at my desk. It just started crumbling apart while i was sitting still for hours again. And now the more pricey headsets have integrated microphones to make sure saving on real estate and the parts while having better looks takes priority over usefulness. And finding one including the soft cotton earpads is almost impossible. These earpads are great for all day use in any climate and easily re-sticheable. In hot climate, leather-like earpads will chaffe at the ears with long use. So i really thought I won a good pair when I used these for first six months. Not anymore. Now im looking at the Astro A50 X priced at nearly $400 USD. Here we go again... If those fail im going back to budget headsets. And use them like disposable gloves.

EDIT: I should note in the section where I mention my headset being on the latest firmware it came out of the box that way when I attempted to update the USB receiver and headset they were already on the latest firmware so perhaps the headset previously had issues and Razer fixed them with firmware and started shipping the headset that way. TL;DR Pros: Excellent package experience. USBC. Bluetooth. Custom audio/mic EQs on the headset itself. 70 hour battery life. The best sounding mic I’ve ever used on a gaming headset period. Cons: Still have to use Razer Synapse for tuning and firmware updates and can’t be done via mobile or Mac. No 3.5mm connection. No Xbox compatibility (though I still blame Microsoft for this). The Razer BlackShark V2 Pro (2023) really should have just been the Razer BlaclShark V3 Pro. This headset improves on the 2020 BlackShark V2 Pro in just about every way (except for one). The headset has the same great sound as the 2020 model which to my taste is okay but needs to be adjusted for a more neutral natural sound as well as being identical in design save for some swapped button placement and a sadly removed port. Also Razer’s package experience is still amazing the headset comes very nicely packed in dense plush foam so that it won’t get damaged in shipping. After that the similarities end the improvements start coming and they just don’t stop. The 2023 model finally ditches the antiquated micro-USB port for a USBC connector that alone makes the headset worth it to me personally but Razer kept going the headset now supports Bluetooth for wireless audio outside of Razer’s 2.4Ghz Hyperspeed USB connection. Allowing you to pair the device with things like your phone, TV, Tablet, Streaming boxes and so much more. Razer has also decided to allow you to save EQs and presets to the headset itself which is great for people who want to use this headset on console but would maybe like to use some of the specific esports presets or their own custom EQ. Razer also significantly improved the battery life going from 24 hours on the 2020 model to a whopping 70 hours on the 2023 model. Then there’s the mic I don’t know what wizardry Razer is pulling but between the hardware and the processing on the headset itself it is one of the best sounding mics I have ever heard on a gaming headset beating out some USB mics I’ve tested. Now I have heard some people out of the box have had issues with their headsets not saving settings or EQs and tuning not sounding right or having a static feedback when using the headset on discord but with my headset on the latest firmware I have yet to run into an software issues. I also saw one review here that claimed the headset isn’t compatible which Switch and that it (the headset) was false advertising but I can confirm docked the headset works via the 2.4 usb dongle but honestly just pair the headset via Bluetooth and then it works perfectly in docked or handheld mode. This brings me to the faults I have with the headset for better or worse you’re still beholden to Razer Synapse for tuning and adjustments and you still can’t do any of this via the mobile app which means a PC is required which is super frustrating if the out of the box sound isn’t to your liking or if you need to update the firmware and own a Mac. Razer make a Mac specific app and allow wireless updating and tuning via the mobile app it’s 2023 not everyone wants to be tethered to their PC. Secondly while this doesn’t bother me the headset should support simultaneous audio over Bluetooth and 2.4Ghz and while we’re on missing features probably my biggest gripe is the removal of the 3.5mm connection. Look I get it, in 2023 a lot of devices don’t have 3.5 anymore and I have moved on but I liked having it as an option and to see it removed is really frustrating especially when some of the competition who had skipped having a 3.5 before on their wireless offerings like Logitech are now offering a 3.5 connection and Razer isn’t. This also means unless Razer makes a specific Xbox version this headset is a no go for Xbox users without a Bluetooth adapter and then you still can’t use the mic. Though I still think Microsoft should get off their high horse and just allow USB audio like the PC (which Windows is Microsoft’s software), PlayStation and Switch do. With all that being said I loved the 2020 model and the 2023 model is no exception it fixes every gripe I had with the previous version and does it all at a great price point. It’s not perfect but what is. Either way this is my headset of choice and I will continue to use a BlackShark headset for the foreseeable future.

I was fortunate enough to get this on launch day. While not a perfect headset, there are noticeable improvements over the old version. No idea why they still call it V2 when this is technically their 3rd version of the Blackshark Pro. Anyway... The 2023 edition adds Bluetooth, but it's not simultaneous. You can play games wirelessly, then switch to answer a phone call. Once you hang up, it resumes playing game audio again. You can't hear both at the same time unfortunately. They also have built in EQ presets now which is great. Single press on right button toggles through several presets. A long press puts it in Esports mode, which includes custom EQs for Valorant, Apex, Call of Duty, Fortnite, etc. You do not need Synapse software to use this, which means Playstation players can enjoy many EQ options! You can even create a custom EQ with Synapse and save it to the headset for future console use as well. Build quality is improved, with thicker sliders for headset size adjustment. They are much smoother to adjust and should hold up much better over time. I made a custom EQ that I've added to the images I posted. This tunes the headset closer to the Harman curve, which sounds great, but I left a slight bass lift to preserve that fun Blackshark sound. They removed the Aux input that use to be on the old Blackshark V2 Pro. Battery life is a whopping 70 hours now. The mic is significantly better sounding BUT the noise gate is rather aggressive, even if you disable it in Synapse software. My friends said my voice kept cutting out when I was playing Warzone with them. If you are a soft spoken person or play games late at night, people may not hear you clearly with this headset. The sound profile is punchy with a heavy dose of warm bass. It carries into the mid range, leaving things slightly boxy sounding. The mid range is recessed slightly, and the treble is rather smooth overall. There is a pretty sharp treble spike at 7k-8khz though, and it's made worse if you enable THX in Synapse. Luckily some of the presets dial this back, and you can reduce 8khz treble with custom EQ. If you have a Nova 7 and find it too shouty or abrasive sounding, then you'll love the Blackshark V2 Pro. It images well in FPS games, but lacks the forward detail and precision that I get with the Nova 7 and Stealth 700 Gen 2 max. The sound stage is rather closed off, making this headset have an intimate sound profile. It can still be competitive in all game genres, but this isn't the best footstep headset at $200 or less. Comfort, like the prior generation Blackshark v2 Pro, is excellent. I gamed on them for hours at a time without any issues or discomfort. The clamp is light, as is the weight, and it even works well with glasses. Definitely close to a solid 10 on comfort. My only two disappointments were the Razer Synapse software, which gave me a lot of issues during setup just to make this work properly on PC. This shouldn't be happening any more considering how long Synapse has been out, yet here I am still having issues with it. I couldn't get Synapse to update, then it wouldn't detect the headset. When I finally got it working, sometimes the EQ changes wouldn't work at all, and I was stuck with the same EQ profile. The mic sounds incredible, but you need to be a fairly strong spoken person. This isn't well suited for the soft and quiet speakers out there. As a quick note - This does not work on Xbox in any way. The older one did via the 3.5mm aux cable to the controller, but that isn't an option any more. There is also no game to chat mix support, even on PC, which is also a bummer. Several models in this price range offer both of those features. All in all, if you want a cozy sound with bass that hugs you, excellent comfort, and flexible EQ options, this is one of the best sub $200 options on the market, especially for PS5 players. This headset allows you to use all the EQ options on Playstation, and supports their Tempest 3D Audio. If you want a lot of flexibility for cross platform or wireless options, then this isn't the best deal. It's not perfect, but I can see many people liking it.

First off, great microphone, mainly maybe why I'm giving it 3 stars. At first the headset seemed great but I noticed when I have multiple things like discord,music, and a game open at once, the audio for everything HEAVILY distorts after like 10-20 minutes of those things being open, it almost sounds like very bad static. I notice this stops when I close out my music app, this should not be an issue at all, yet it is. Another HUGE thing I noticed after 2 months of usage is that now everytime when I first power on my headset, for some reason it does NOT pick up ANY input audio as if the microphone was the only thing not "connecting" mind you i have the USB receiver on a USB 3.0 port(YES i checked the control panel settings to make sure all my audio is set up correctly). The mic starts to pick up my voice again after either A, I plug its charger into my PC and to my headset and this will sometimes make the microphone work again or B, I restart my PC, turn off headset, and before powering on either my PC or headset i plug the headset in with its USB C to my PC and THEN i power on my PC followed by the headset while it is plugged in to my PC. This has been one of THE biggest issues I've ever had with any headset I've picked up. I also noticed/read that the headphone yoke itself isn't very sturdy and IS prone to broke over use, Of course it depends on how you use it, but in my opinion i feel as if its something that is bound to happen as someone who has had multiple headsets and headset yoke types. Again GREAT mic, decent audio although the volume wheel is tied to your PC's maximum audio, so if the PC is at 80% so is the headset, I seemed to find a workaround by downloading ear trumpet since it gives me more audio options and flexibility that the headset cannot, This might be a common thing with most headsets but I used to own an Arctis headset before this Blackshark so naturally i got accustomed to how greatly they handle their audio and audio mix wheel , but horrible mic connection from my experience. I forgot to mention, yes the mic is detachable, no it is not damaged nor is it reason for the mic connectivity, Ive only ever removed it once or twice ever since purchase, and I've also NEVER connected this headset to anything other than my PC, even less of a reason for me to be experiencing such issues.

This is a fantastic headset for gaming. The sound quality is exceptional—clear, immersive, and perfect for FPS games. It connected effortlessly right out of the box, and I honestly don’t understand the complaints some people have about the microphone. Everyone I’ve played with says my voice comes through strong, clear, and static-free. One small thing to keep in mind: when plugging in the microphone, look closely at the connector. There’s a flattened section on the plastic that ensures you’re inserting it in the correct orientation. The plastic is soft enough that you can accidentally force it in the wrong way and mar it, so just take a quick look before connecting. Other than that, this is one of the best headsets I’ve ever used. It’s incredibly comfortable for long gaming sessions, the battery lasts a very long time, and overall I have zero complaints. Fantastic headset.

PROS: * Probably the best sounding mic you'll get out of a set of "gaming" headphones. * Quick switch between wireless means you can have them connected between your PC (wireless) and your phone or other devices (bluetooth) and switch between them by double-tapping a button on the right ear-cup. * Relatively comfortable for me but comfortable is infinitely subjective. CONS: * BUILD QUALITY - Build quality is terrible. I paid $200 for these before tax. Purchased on 1/6/2024 and they broke on 7/20/2024. I went to put them on and heard a snap and the left sode was no longer sitting snug to my head. I took them off to see what was wrong and noticed the PLASTIC that is used to hold the headphones in place near the earcups snapped on the left side. I wish headphones manufacturers would stop using plastic for stress points on headphones but here we are. Low quality for a high price. * BATTERY LIFE- the battery life on these things is nowhere near what was advertised. I can get a day out of them with continuous use no problem but they have no where near 70 hours of battery life. I usually plug them in nightly but on a few occasions I have forgotten to plug them in and I have not been able to get two full days (48 hours) out of them when that happened. I would say the actual battery life in my every day usage is closer to ~36-40 hours. * MIC PLACEMENT - the mic was OK for a bit but as I continued to use the headphones I noticed the mic cord is kind of flimsy and it's hard to get it to stay in place. I would try to move it up and closer to my mouth and it would just flop down and go where it wanted to (not near my mouth). * RAZER SYNAPSE - as always, Razer Synapse is not a good piece of software and is annoying to deal with. Camera not working? Better check to see if Synapse has one of several unrelated updates for the week that's causing your device to not work properly. I've had issues with Razer products in the past but this has been the worst. I loved and cherished my original Razer Naga from 2007 and I am relatively happy with my Razer Naga Pro RGB wireless mouth however I also have the Kiyo webcam and have to constantly deal with that thing disconnecting and being spotty all the time and then this headphone issue which is ridiculous. I think it's time I moved on from Razer products, the quality just isn't there.

Tenía unos Razer Kraken (no recuerdo el modelo), pero después de cuatro años de uso intenso, aunque aún funcionan, la diadema se rompió, así que decidí comprar estos. I tried 10s of gaming headsets I was surprised by the mic 🎤 quality and the sound actually is great .. however for prolonged gaming sessions .. my ear and head get tired and pain.. and this issue actually is noticeable with almost all gaming headsets

Date of this review is 24-11-13. "Razer BlackShark V2 Pro Wireless Gaming Headset 2023 Edition" purchased 24-11-21. Warranty replacement (product review after this section): 1. I thought these had 1 year warranty. It's actually 2-year warranty. 2. Reviews on here had me apprehensive going into warranty support chat because reviews stated this damage is not covered under warranty. 3. 100% covered under warranty. I spoke to Razer support and after initial registration, (upload proof of purchase and images from this review of the damage ~30m of my time) I got in queue for chat support. I had the most pleasant chat with support agent Camelle than I have had with support for other products and services with other companies all year. AAA top notch help. They asked me a few more questions and then gave me RMA to get *new* headphones sent out to me. Free returns, free sending out to me. I'm at the shipping out stage and will update my review accordingly as time goes on. Images uploaded: The first two are images of the broken part on the left earpiece. The agent seems to have been aware of the issue and they identified it as the yoke (connector between the headband and earpiece) that broke. The third image is the hook I keep it on when the headphones are not on my head. I don't even wear it on my neck because the earpieces are too large. The fourth pic is of the plastic on the right side earpiece that is visibly cracked. This is from normal use. I do not drop or chuck around the headphones when not in use. I have a hook. They're either on my head or on the hook when not in use. If Razer reads this, replace that plastic cap with an aluminum one. That should resolve this issue without adding much weight to it. Product review: These have been the most comfortable wireless headsets I have worn in a long time. It's got good clasp strength. They're not too tight, not too loose that they will fall off. I have gotten compliments how well my mic sounds and the audio is very nice. I recommend these headphones, if not for the sound and comfort, then for the stand up warranty and support they have behind their products.
