DPA Microphones d:vote 4099B instrument Microphone for Upright Bass

I bought this mic on an online recommendation I saw some time ago, by one John Pattituchi. I actually doubt that he ever recommended this mic for bass. With a pre-amp the feedback is uncontrollable. With just phantom power the volume I achieved was very low, and the sound quality no better than yer average fifty dollar mic. The clip provided with it for bass is really not dependable. The thin cable attached to it would be no good at all for gigging, but then you would only get feedback on stage anyway. I'm very disappointed. It mayl be used for other instruments now I have it, as it seems to do a decent job for higher frequency instruments, but DO NOT get one for your bass.
