Do NOT machine wash!
I love the concept of being able to give my toddler organic toys that lack toxic chemicals and are made out of materials that will not release micro-plastics into our ecosystems. That said, I think this product could be more durable, especially since it's a toy. I washed it in our front-load washer on the gentle cycle before giving it to my child, because yeah, it's organic, but I don't know the specifics of what it encountered before arriving in our home. This is all it took for the fabric to start breaking down at the seams. Yes, the tag says "surface clean only", but that does not seem like a reasonable request for something that is going to get chewed on, barfed on, or worse. Hopefully the manufacturer can start sourcing a more durable organic fabric so that these can be more sustainable than they are currently.
