Some say you have to leave out 48 hours before you can use. I did not have that issue, it plumped up right after opening. Although I did not use it right away. Once I did, I am in love. I have swelling in my ankles due to a heart condition and also I could absolutely get my weight down and I may not have this problem all the time. It does not get my feet above my heart but it sure does help because it is pretty high on top of my ottoman. I sit and watch TV or read on laptop and it feels so good to have my feet on this. The thing is super comfortable on my legs and feet. It is soft but also strong enough not to make leg marks. It has two parts a thinner one and a thick one and I have them stacked up together and that gives a lot of lift. I am really glad I decided to buy it. On my ottoman I can pull it right up to my chair and then pull the wedges right up to behind my knees almost and that is the best position for me as that is the most comfortable for me. But everyone will have their own way of using it. If you are on the fence you should definitely give it a try. I almost forgot to mention it has handles on the front so you can pull it close and that makes it so much better than fighting with it to get the position you want.
