He had paid out of pocket to have water tested for this item as well as other brands. This particular model came 2nd, but since it does not require any plumbing (which could not be implemented in our kitchen for an under-the-counter model) it was the best choice. I have changed the filters and it still is in perfect order. Very satisfied with the water taste.
