I sprayed this on one wrist and BR540 on the other to see how they would match up and after 6 hours I could still smell both. The BR540 was holding on a bit more than the Dossier but it was pretty close. For the price, I think this perfume is phenomenal. I was also really impressed with the bottle and packaging. It’s not cheaply made by any means. I love that the cap on the bottle is magnetic so if you like to carry perfume in your purse or other bags you won’t risk the cap falling off have it spritz by accident. If you’ve never smelled BR540 and want to see how close they match, I recommend using the website MicroPerfumes, you can get a sample vial, sample spray, or travel size of basically any perfume for a really good price. The sample vial of BR540 is like $8. The travel size is $35 for 5ml which is roughly 0.17oz, which is why this Dossier is such a great price, being 1.7oz. Literally 10x the size. Everyone recognized the scent and constantly told me how great I smelled. Just two or three sprays on my wrists would linger all day. I repurchased it on September 29, 2026, directly through my previous Amazon order, so I know I ordered the exact same product. Unfortunately, what I received is not the same fragrance I purchased in 2024. The formula has clearly changed or something is seriously wrong with this batch. The first time I wore it, I used three sprays, expecting the same strength and longevity. Throughout the day, I realized I couldn’t smell it at all. Today, I sprayed it 17 times (no exaggeration) and the scent still didn’t last. Anyone familiar with the original Ambery Saffron knows that 17 sprays would have been overwhelmingly strong in the worst possible way. This version feels like I’m spraying scented water on myself. When I tried to return it, I discovered that it was ineligible for return. Save your money and look for another Baccarat Rouge 540 alternative.
