Filter Output 2800ltr/hr, Maximum Aquarium Size 1000 Ltr , Power Consumption 71w, Inlet 25mm Dia, Outlet 19mm Dia, Size 300mm X 300mm X 488mm Dirty aquarium water is drawn from the aquarium via an inlet tube with a strainer the water then passes through layers of graded foam where most of the solids are removed mechanically and then onto first stages of biological filtration. Once through the filter sponge the water has to flow through two other chambers filled with biological and chemical filter media. Biological filtration takes place in the compartment containing Bioballs and a further compartment containing Ceramic Rings. Other filter media for removing ammonia and nitrite can also be placed one of the 4 removable filter compartments. Chemical purification takes place in the chamber containing a Carbon Impregnated Sponge before the water reaches the motor where it is pumped back into the aquarium via a spray bar that helps re-oxygenate the water. This filter is equipped with a Quick release Valve System which allows you to remove the filter for cleaning from the aquarium without moving any of the pipework and without any drips or loss of water. I'd have given it five stars but there are a couple of significant issues that you should be aware of. Firstly, priming is an absolute pain... It comes with some sort of priming syphon thing that doesn't really work so you're left with the old fashioned bucket method and a mouth of fish water. Second thing to be aware of is the trays. They're meant to clip together and be lowered into the canister in one go. However, once full with media the trays deform slightly meaning they have to be placed in one by one which is awkward as they don't have any handles. Otherwise, no complaints at all. It turns a lot of water over and is quite quiet (not silent but it's ridiculously powerful).
