The Snowman / The Snowman and the Snowdog [Blu-ray] [1982]

I have seen 'The Snowman' hundreds of times but I was very interested in seeing this new story. I was even more so when I heard it was going to be made in the old style, which is refreshing as I don't now about you but I am tired of new Animation.We all sat down as a family and watched this and were completely absorbed but having lost two dogs this year found the throat tighten very quickly, When it finished there was a silence and then like the Mexican wave my eldest son burst into tears, I then burst into tears, then my wife and then my youngest son. Having said that we still had to watch it again and again.The music. The classic song was brilliant but I really liked the new 'Main' song and fit into the story perfectly. IN a way - dare I say it - I preferred it to the original.I really hope we see more hand drawn animation in the future as I really believe that there are young people leaving school with great artistic talent who want to draw not sit at a computer and I want to see there talent on screen just like the people behind 'The Snowman and The Snow dog'.A family must have!

Great value, 2 christmas classics in one box set.The Snowman has been a personal favorite since i was a small boy, its a film that can stir the emotions and have your cherished Christmas memories come flooding back as soon as you press play.The Snowman and the Snowdog is a great addition and a film that I am sure will forge the same effect on a new generation.My son (3yrs) loves both films, there is a timeless magic in both the animation and sound tracks.A Christmas classic that will be played over and over in our household every christmas.

I give this 5 stars as it's a favorite of mine that I have on DVD. It would be disappointing if it is region locked as it's not available in American on blu ray.UPDATE: I took a chance on this being region since most of Universal's movies are but turns out it is region locked. I don't understand why they just don't release it in the U.S at the same time or make it region free. Very disappointed as I really don't want to invest in a region free player at this time.

Bought this for my Fiance for Christmas, she loves the Snowman from her childhood and loves the snow dog.Both are very moving.Only thing I can fault it on is the fact that it does not come with "Father Chrismas" as well. Which is made by the same people and has the Snowman in the short film.

Was it worth it? YES!! I got the snowman on blu ray and for £1 more than if i had paid only for the snowdog. Now if i had paid for the Snowdog alone i would have been annoyed. Beautiful as it was it was VERY short, great, fun, beautiful, cute, but short. I have marked it down one star as i was a little disappointed.

A lovely boxset which has the iconic original Snowman movie as well as the 2012 sequel The Snowman and the snowdog.The Snowman and the snowdog movie has just as much charm as the original from 30 years previous, it also includes the making of the snowdog which is very interesting.A great purchase which will be really does give you that xmas feeling.

Good story, what a child would have really liked. Excellent animation, excellent music

Bought 2 copies. One as a present - the girls loved it - and one for myself. I'm just a child at heart!
