Having wanted a doorbell that I could integrate with Home Assistant, have local control over, block cloud access but not hamper its features, not be tied into anyone’s expensive hardware (unify) and still have excellent quality at a reasonable price point, I went for this. I went for the WiFi version despite the obvious downsides, as I have other cameras and this is more for notifications rather than security - and it would be difficult for me to run PoE to its location (I was, however, really pleased to see Ethernet as an option in case that changes in the future). Despite being released for some time, this doorbell still ticked all the boxes. The signal strength to my unify APs on the 2.4GHz band is 100% in the unify console with the nearest UAC-AC-Pro approx 5M away through brick wall - so the antenna in the doorbell is obviously good. I paid £85.49 after applying a 5% voucher for this doorbell, which I thought was pretty amazing considering the competition (especially since the sensor in this unit consistently comes out in the top few). I have it integrated with HA and Frigate using the Coral TPU and so far performance has been good. I’ve never really taken much notice of Reolink before, but I must say I’m really quite impressed. Config can be handled entirely from Web UI, but even their app works locally or via VPN despite being blocked from WAN access (after the initial setup). WAN access was blocked using DNS to restrict just Reolink’s domain and sub domains so that NTP still works, with HA handling push notifications. Video quality is excellent with adjustable settings and ONVIF and RTSP work well. There’s a ton of under the hood settings and granularity - for example AI person and motion detection as well as image colour/brightness etc. The settings for AI and motion are obviously handled in camera and have been useful in refining the notifications sent to my phone via HA. This allows the separate AI person detection in Frigate to work independently so gives total control over events. As a side note: It wasn’t clear from the plethora of YouTube reviews if the button ring led lights on visitor approach (a feature I think looks really slick) but I can confirm that it does, and this is handled by the doorbell unit itself. Firmware is available from the Reolink website without allowing the doorbell WAN access (another tick in the box). I wanted the push notifications on my phone to have the same tone as the door bell and chime. A quick search found a subreddit where someone has provided all 11 audio files. This made it easy to import into HA on my phone to have a more synchronous alert experience. In terms of the product features, I’m really impressed. I’m also thoroughly impressed with what’s in the box. I was expecting no PSU like other brands, and expected to have to get a 24v transformer, but this comes not only with a PSU, but a very generous extension cable and various other leads to integrate with your existing wiring and chime. So in summary: If you are looking for something you have total “un-crippled” control over without spending a ton, then go for this. I solved the issue of the quick release slot (which all these smart doorbells seem to have to be fair) by installing a corner bracket directly below the hole (at bottom of unit) which I painted black with hammerite. The screw into the wall is a security torx. I don’t think one can reasonably do more than that - if someone’s determined to rip it off the wall after that, well then they probably always would have. I’ve only had this 48 hours so I will monitor and update if I experience any issue but I really am genuinely impressed with this so far. :-) Reolink appear to be getting every aspect right so far…. 👏 I hope they stay this way and I cannot wait for their next Doorbell (hopefully with a package cam and LCD screen? ;-))Update (20240301):Having now had this installed for about a month I can say that I do not regret my purchase decision. The only downside that I can tell of so far is that the WiFi signal strength occasionally dips (I setup an automation in HA to notify my phone) but I solved this by placing a repeater near the front door, just to ensure continued connection. The weather has been awful recently so I suspect this to be the cause. Most likely in summer I will have zero issues. As previously mentioned this is not for 24/7 recording, if it were I would probably recommend the PoE version just to ensure connection. After installing the repeater, the unit is now approx 2 meters from an AP. I repeated a site survey to ensure WiFi interference was not a factor. I am still under the opinion that this is an excellent unit for the price - even the WiFi version - considering the flexibility and feature set. WiFi signal issues can most likely be mitigated and this continues to be a viable option for those who cannot run PoE to the front door. The unit continues to work well with frigate and HA. I have experienced no other issues with it. I’m giving this a 10/10 because I truly believe it represents value for money and it does the job I wanted and more. I will absolutely be keeping an eye on Reolink’s offerings in the future.

This doorbell works really well, and I'm very pleased with it. Would highly recommend.Based on previous experiences I would very much recommend a permanently powered doorbell like this rather than battery powered - as that's the only way you get good pre-event recording.I was able to wire it to existing doorbell wiring so it was very easy to install - you need a (min 12V, max 24V) supply for the doorbell - I already had a 24V transformer installed for the doorbell wiring due to a previous Ring Pro install, which worked perfectly. Many older UK doorbells are only 8V though - so check the voltage is high enough (or replace the transformer) if you want to use existing wiring. If you dont already have doorbell wiring, or it can't supply enough power then you can instead power it with the included plug-in power supply - a good length of cabling is included in the box, but you may have to drill a hole through your doorframe for it. But worth it!Once installed and powered it does the job brilliantly. Will integrate with alexa or google home. The included wireless chime works well. You can't buy additional chimes from reolink separately unfortunately - but apparently any programmable 433Mhz chime will work. According to the internet the KERUI M525 works for example. Because its a simple 433Mhz signal for the chime the doorbell will still ring even if your Internet connection is down! The wifi connection has been rock solid in any case. Helps that it supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz!. You do have an ethernet port on the doorbell too so you can skip wifi altogether if you want to.The APP works well, alerts come through instantly. It can notify you for any motion, or it can detect a person and notify for that. The app connects pretty much instantly, and the video quality is great (including at night) Unlike many doorbells you have a complete choice as to where your footage is stored, and you do not have to pay a subscription. You can have the doorbell store video1) On a MicroSD card on the doorbell itself. That's easiest, and costs nothing, but I'd recommend an additional storage option also for backup/security from one of the following...2) Reolink Cloud service (£32.49/year)3) Reolink NVR (check amazon for current price https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0CDW6N7V5 ) - One off fee, and once set up will store footage from the doorbell + other security cameras. Can record 24/7 with this.4) FTP Server. The doorbell can transfer recordings via FTP to whatever FTP server you configure. This is what I have set up - an old Raspberry Pi with a large USB storage key.5) RTSP / ONVIF stream. You can have your own NVR record 24/7 with this option.It can also e-mail clips to an address you configure if you want.Basically this doorbell is brilliant - It does everything I want - and leaves my previous Ring Pro (and then Blink) for dust, and all for just a one off purchase price!

Edit: Ok, I initially reviewed at 1 star to draw some attention to the issue below... obviously it did something since I've had messages offering various support (though not a solution to to the problem described). Anyway, now I've cooled down a bit I'm revising to 4 stars. The doorbell is actually very good. The picture is great, response time is good and motion detection, while over sensitive initially, can be tuned to a very fine degree. The issue with the Echo Show devices is not quite as bad as I initially feared, in that you can still request they show the doorbell feed, it is just that you have to disable the automatic jump to the feed on doorbell press, otherwise it messes up the app audio functionality. This is still highly annoying, since "Alexa, show my doorbell" takes a fair few seconds to work, & by the time you've asked for it you may as well just go and answered the door! And it still seems like something that should be solveable, and that other doorbells can achieve. But it's not a dealbreaker, I just hope Reolink get on with sorting it out ASAP.Original Review:Installed my Reolink this week... in most aspects I am happy.... picture is good, software is good, installation was fine... really all good.The big problem came when I found that I was unable to use voice communication from the app on my phone. Obviously, this is one of the key components of these smart doorbells, so not having it is a big issue. After some digging around online, I find that the issue is that I have integrated the doorbell with my Alexa setup, and it turns out that if you have the doorbell enabled on Echo Show devices (I have 3 of them), they 'hijack' the audio communications, rendering it inoperable for use through the app.This is, frankly, ridiculous. Being able to use the doorbell through the Echos was one of the main reasons I got it, but now I find I have no choice but to disable that integration, or lose the even-more-essential communications through the phone app. This is unacceptable. There are forum posts showing Reolink have been alerted to this issue for more than a year, but seemingly no fix is forthcoming. Other doorbells do not have this issue, so it surely cannot be an insurmountable technical challenge.I was planning to follow the doorbell with an investment in a full Reolink security camera setup, but this has shaken my faith in the company and for now those plans are on hold. For now I am going to have to stick with the doorbell as it is, without proper Echo integration. If no fixes present themselves in the new year I will be looking for alternatives. What a frustrating disappointment.

I've now used two of these, this one reviewed and the other being the PoE version. From a functionality perspective, they operate identically if you put the WiFi / wired LAN difference aside.The camera and interface work great. I love the fact it's a totally open system. Whilst Reolink offer cloud support with a mobile app which I have used and works great, this is not mandatory. If you want to use the device just at home with no cloud connectivity and interface with something like Home Assistant, this is totally possible and works great although I have not yet been able to get two-way audio working with the HA plugin: two-way audio only seems to work with the app that requires the camera to be cloud-connected.Picture quality is pretty good. It offers two profiles, a low bitrae, fast response which is great if you have limited bandwidth. The high quality feed is very good providing lots of detail providing you have decent light. In darkness, the camera uses infrared lights to produce a black and white picture and the quality and detail of course aren't as good. Still functional, but not as precise as a good naturally-lit environment.The camera comes with an angled wedge allowing you to have it pointing slightly off axis, great if you want to angle more towards the centre of your door.Summary:Pros:- Works well, very good picture quality when daylight- App works well, providing two-way audio- App does not require a subscription to be functional. This beats competitors like Ring hands down!- App is not required - integration possible with Home Assistant and you are not held ransom if the cloud functionality is removed.Cons:- Two-way audio not possible unless using the cloud-connected app- Picture quality in dimly-lit and night don't provide as much detail.

If I could give it zero stars I would.Unpacked and installed the unit onto the wall next to the front door. The wifi router is in the hallway approx 5m form the doorbell. That's when the fun started..!!In the Reolink app you have to initially pair the doorbell with a QR code that the app will display on your phone. No way would it recognise the QR code, no matter what I did. Eventually I had to disconnect the door bell, wire it via the included power supply (I was using the original doorbell transformer to power it), and then stand under the router to pair it. After a couple of attempts it finally worked.Connect via 2.5ghz wireless signal and refitted it to the door. Very impressed with all the functions and quality and spent a bit of time configuring it to our requirements.The following morning tried to access the doorbell via the app which told me it was disconnected. Had to factory reset the doorbell and go through the same procedure to reconnect using a 5ghz wifi signal this time.Everything worked as normal for the rest to the day but that evening the app had kicked out the doorbell again...Over the next two days the same issues were occurring no matter what I tried so I said enough was enough... I removed the doorbell with all it's fittings, contacted Amazon who facilitated a return with free shipping.Well done to Amazon for a hassle free return and once proof of postage was received I got a full refund.I have now purchased a Tapo doorbell which is working without a glitch and it is doing exactly what it says on the tin..!!

Just had to write a review on this particular camera doorbell. I initially had a Ring doorbell and like others, got fed up with their subscription charges and wanted something I just buy once and then have nothing to pay and all recordings kept on my SD card or setup to record via my CCTV camera setup and onto my NVR box. Due to the fact the Ring doorbell was run via battery power, I decided to get my local sparky in to hardwire the power to a bell of his choice and he choose the Tapo D235, everything was fine for a few days and then it started to lose connection, lag between motion and bell press, so alarm detection to our phones were delayed and I am convinced it was because my internet connection runs via 5ghz/2.4ghz and the Tapo only supports 2.4ghz, I did split the network and created a 2.4ghz only and then reconnected the bell to the split but again after a few days, connectivity issues came into the equation, thats when the research came into action and I searched for something better, low and behold THE REOLINK WIRED VIDEO DOORBELL. This bell is outstanding and not missed a beat since I installed it, crystal clear video both day and night, easy to set up, easy to use app and there is even a desktop (PC/Mac) app too. It maybe down to the fact that this bell supports 5ghz and must surely have a more superior antenna inside the bell but all in all, I would certainly recommend this bell to everyone who is looking to replace their subscription doorbells, you will not regret the change, if there is any critisism for the Reolink and that would be the bell only supports a maximum of a 256g SD card where as the Tapo had a 512g no big issue at all, just a users preference I guess with how much data they want to store before videos start to be overwritten. Marks out of 10 for this product ? A MASSIVE 10 and would certainly buy this again if I needed to.

I’m using it with a power adapter and Ethernet, and the connection has been solid. The app is reliable, the chime works well, and the Alexa Echo Show integration is fantastic. I can’t believe this is finally possible:) After trying more expensive products and ending up with unreliable, miserable connections, this has been a welcome change

Je préfère largement un modèle filaire plutôt qu’un modèle sur batterie : pas besoin de penser à la recharger régulièrement, c’est beaucoup plus pratique au quotidien.Lorsqu’une personne sonne, on reçoit immédiatement un appel sur le téléphone, ce qui est vraiment pratique, même lorsqu’on n’est pas à la maison.J’ai choisi l’abonnement Cloud plutôt que l’enregistrement sur carte SD. À mon avis, c’est plus sécurisé : si quelqu’un vole ou détruit la sonnette en emportant la carte SD, les enregistrements restent disponibles dans le cloud.J’apprécie également les réponses rapides préenregistrées, ainsi que la possibilité d’enregistrer ses propres messages vocaux. C’est une fonction très utile lorsque l’on est absent.Le carillon intérieur est suffisamment puissant et s’entend très bien dans la maison.Pour le moment, tout fonctionne parfaitement. Reste à voir la fiabilité sur le long terme, mais mes premières impressions sont très positives.

Bon voilà mon portail est loin, j'ai pas prévu d'alimentation sonnette et jusqu'à présent j'avais une sonnette a pile avec un récepteur dans la maison. J'en ai eu mare je voulais surveiller mon extérieur et voir qui sonne a ma porte sans me coller à la fenêtre ce qui n'est pas discret. Est-ce réussi avec ce produit, regarder en image :Une version de nuit en vidéo je pense que ça parle de soi même.Ce que j'ai aimé c'est le nombre d'accessoire fournie, la facilité d'installation et de configuration. Mon portail est a 30m de la maison, avec une journée wifi extérieur c'est parfait. Pas besoin de batterie j'ai acheté en plus un transformateur 24v que j'ai piqué sur le moteur de mon portail et le tour est joué. Une saignée dans le pilier et le câble est vraiment bien caché. La sonnette sonne a merveille, nombreux réglage possible et message d'absence si on le souhaite. Il y a même un mode alarme et ça fonctionne super bien. A acheté les yeux fermés j'ai même pu surveiller ma maison pendant mes vacances. Bien sûr ne pas oubliier d'acheter une carte micro sd pour l'enregistrement des vidéos et alerte . Je recommande +++

Als ich las, dass Reolink nun auch eine Video-Türklingel vertreibt, war mein Interesse sofort geweckt.Trotzdem dauerte es mit dem Kauf noch bis zum nächsten Internetausfall. Wir haben mehrere Jahre eine Ring Video Doorbell 2 benutzt, welche vor allem vier Probleme aufwies:* schlechtes WLAN - dadurch dauert es lange, bis man nach dem Klingeln das Bild von der Haustür sieht* Videoaufzeichnung nur mit Cloud-Abo möglich - haben wir nicht genutzt* bei Internetausfall geht die Türklingel gar nicht mehr* Akku konnte sich bei Minusgraden nicht mehr aufladen - musst dann entnommen und am Ladegerät geladen werdenInstallation-------------Diese vier Probleme sind mit der Reolink Video Doorbell nun Geschichte. Die Installation verläuft ansich erst einmal problemlos und die App führt einen komplett durch den Installationsprozess. Die Installation ist auch ohne Internet möglich.Allerdings stieß ich schnell auf den einzigen Nachteil gegenüber der Ring Doorbell: 24 Volt statt 8 Volt. Unsere Klingelanlage lieferte nur 8 Volt, sodass die Reolink Doorbell sich nach Anschluss nicht einschaltete. Da wir die Klingelanlage im Haus nicht mehr nutzen, klemmte ich die Drähte im Keller von der alten Klingelanlage ab, schloss ebenfalls im Keller das Netzteil der Reolink Doorbell an und verband es mit den Kontakten, die an der Haustür herauskamen. Danach lief die Reolink Doorbell sofort.Nur 1 Chime---------------Der Chime bzw. Gong lässt sich einfach in eine Steckdose stecken und funktioniert dann sofort mit der Türklingel. So ist schon einmal sichergestellt, dass die Klingel auch dann geht, wenn das Internet nicht vorhanden ist.Allerdings verfolge ich schon seit mehr als einem Jahr die Diskussion im Reolink-Forum, in dem zahlreiche Nutzer nach der Möglichkeit fragen, ob man noch weitere Chimes nachkaufen kann, um diese im Haus zu verteilen. Im Ober- oder Untergeschoss oder auf der Terasse zum Garten wären diese Chimes eine große Hilfe, da man sonst die Klingel überhören könnte.Abhilfe schafft hier Alexa.Kompatibel mit Alexa-------------------------Ebenso wie die Ring Video Doorbell 2 hat auch die Reolink Doorbell einen Alexa Skill, sodass man die Klingel mit der Alexa Cloud verbinden kann, um anschließend Echo-Lautsprecher als Klingel zu nutzen. Ebenso wie bei Ring, ertönt dann aus dem Lautsprecher die Ansage "Haustür hat einen Besucher", wenn jemand klingelt, wobei Haustür durch den Namen ersetzt wird, den man der Türklingel gibt.Die Installation dazu war bei uns nicht so einfach. Wir haben bereits mehrere Reolink-Kameras und den Alex Skill aktiviert gehabt. Dadurch konnte man bisher schon einem FireTV sagen, dass es eine Kamera auf dem Fernseher einblenden soll. Mit der Reolink Video Doorbell wollte dies nun auf Anhieb aber partout nicht funktionieren. Ich konnte bei der Kamera weder die Push Notifications aktivieren, noch die Cloudverbindung herstellen.Erst ein Deinstallieren und Neusinstallieren der Reolink-App half. Anschließend konnte ich mich mit dem Reolink-Cloud-Account neu verbinden und auch die Kamera nutzen.Hat man Alexa-Lautsprecher in Räumen, wo es nicht klingeln soll, z.B. einem Kinderzimmer, so lässt sich dies in der Alexa-App einstellen:* entweder definiert man eine Bitte-Nicht-Stören-Zeit (z.B. zum Mittagsschlaf)* oder man konfiguriert, dass dieser Lautsprecher gar keine Notifications ausspielen soll (dann ertönt die Türklingel nicht und auch Einkäufe bei Amazon etc. werden dort nicht mehr mit dem grünen Ring angezeigt und abgespielt)Videoaufzeichnung über Festplattenrekorder----------------------------------------------------Wir haben eine Synology Diskstation im Einsatz, die über die Synology Surveillance Station als Überwachungssoftware von Haus und Hof verfügt. Dort lassen sich alle möglichen Kameras problemlos einrichten und aufzeichnen. Ein Cloud Abo ist nicht nötig und das Abrufen der Videos geht im lokalen Netzwerk natürlich auch schneller.Leider wollte sich, anders als unsere anderen Reolink-Kameras, die Doorbell nicht mit der Surveillance Station verbinden. Am Ende musste ich feststellen, dass Reolink die Firewall-Einstellungen der Kameras wohl mittlerweile strikter auslegt, um Hackernagriffe zu vermeiden.D.h. man muss nachschauen, welche IP-Adresse die Kamera hat, diese im Browser aufrufen, sich bei der Kamera einwählen und dann in den Firewall-Einstellungen die Ports freigeben.Leider kennt die Surveillance Station auch kein Profil für die Reolink Doorbell. Anders als viele andere Reolink-Kameras ist diese nicht hinterlegt. Allerdings kann man das Profil problemlos manuell anlegen. Vorallem Auflösung und Bildwiederholrate sollten dabei korrekt eingestell werden, um eine qualitativ hochwertige Aufzeichnung zu erhalten.Reolink-App---------------Zusätzlich zur lokalen Nutzung kann man die Reolink-App verwenden, um sich Push Notifications ausspielen zu lassen. Dann bekommt man auch von unterwegs mit, wenn es eine Bewegung an der Haustür gibt oder jemand klingelt.Man kann dann auch über die App ein Telefonat mit dem Besucher an der Haustür führen.Ein weiteres Feature, welches ich sehr interessant finde ist die Möglichkeit, eine Tonaufzeichnung abzuspielen. Zum Beispiel kann man eine Aufnahmen mit dem Text machen "Wir sind gerade nicht zu Haus. Bitte stellen Sie das Paket einfach vor der Tür ab. Danke." So kann man auch in Bus und Bahn oder aus einem Meeting heraus, die Türklingel beantworten, ohne sprechen zu müssen.Es sind mehrere Sprachbeispiele vorhanden, allerdings auf Englisch. Bei der Aufzeichnung eigener Sprachschnipsel habe ich bisher keinen Erfolg gehabt, da diese übersteuert aufgezeichnet wurden. Vielleicht wird dies durch ein App-Update noch behoben.Fazit------Die Kamera liefert alle versprochenen Features problemlos aus und ist dabei noch unheimlich schnell.Will man die Kamera mit dem beiligenden Stromkabel an der Tür installieren und den Chime nur kurz in die Steckdose stecken, kann man in 30min die neue Türklingel in Betrieb nehmen.Nutzt man weitergehende Features wie Surveillance und Alexa, sollte man sich mehrere Stunden Zeit nehmen, bis alles reibungslos funktioniert.
