Goldenrod (405) Fence Stretcher-Splicer

Release levers stuck due to paint, just tap them a couple of times to free them and then oil the mechanisms. Used them the day they arrived to splice broken barbed wire back together and stretched several strands to tighten them up. Goldenrod worked like a champ easy to use also! Very well made should last a lifetime and then some!

I used it to repair a barbed wire fence. The thing I didn't like was that the tool had been immersed in paint and allowed to dry. That caused all moveable parts to be glued together, making it unusable until the paint is scraped away from critical places. It works good but only after it is cleaned up. They used a poor manufacturing process.

worked like a charm. I had to retention and splice fencing that had been cut and some that horses had damaged. Both twisted wire and woven wire. I have spliced a lot of fence, but this tool made it so easy I was able to do the repair with out any assistance, and the fence was tighter after the repair than it was originally. great product. Free up all parts and lubricate. All is good in fence repair land now, wish I had purchased one years ago.

Super heavy duty, durable, soft release feature of this specific model number is a must in my book.

This item comes freshly painted, so I recommend knocking the moving pieces a bit with a hammer to get them moving. These pieces get easier to move about the more often you use it too. Four stars because the paint gets in the way about the first hour you use it. I’m going on hour 19 of a fencing project, and this works perfectly for splicing and stretching. I’ve used it on standard gauge barb wire and the extra thick stuff. Good tool, good quality, good price, and very easy to use.

What a great, straight-forward, easy to use, quality USA made product! No frills, just gets the job done. I have a lot of barbed wire fencing to square away and this tool makes the job VERY easy. My only con is that of many others, you have to break it in to get the paint off the moving parts in order for it to be easier to use, but that only takes about an hours worth of use to do that. Not too sure what benefit the 415 model offers with the 3d claw, so I am happy with this 405 model as it has done all I need it to!

Works great on barb and high tensile wire. I have used it a lot to mend fence and pull to the corner posts. It is a great tool! I see they have ones with an extra clamp, but I love the simplicity of this one. I do not want too much in my way when twisting out slack. It is easy to pull a loop with the tool and twist in a short strand of wire to take out the slack. No cutting, no splices, just quick and easy lasting repair.

I have sorted miles of fencing with this splicing tool and it works great even on old wire BUT the only problem i had was that it seems that it was not sprayed with paint but dipped as it would not work because of too much paint stopping all the parts from moving after scratching the excessive paint off it then worked very good
