decent blanks for beginners spoon carving. easy to work with and good wood types

I used these for my first project. They were useful and gave a good foot in the door to wood carving. Great value, I ended up finishing in time for Christmas so they were perfect gifts. Definitely didn't like the Cherry though, it seemed hard to work with and kept chipping easily.

I like the shape and size of these blanks, but the mulberry which looks amazing is super hard on my carpal tunnel and nerve damaged hands. The blanks are great looking, and I purchased them as a way to sample a few different types of wood for spoons. I don’t think I would reccomend these blanks for beginners, but for Whittier’s with better hands than mine and some experience under their belt, I think these blanks would be great for novice or better since the wood is pretty hard and could frustrate a beginner to the point of giving up. I love the look of the mulberry but it’s too hard on my hands so I will have to just admire what others do with mulberry wood. The price is good, shipping was timely, and the blanks are a nice size to carve spoons for eating with.

A great price for a variety of different spoon blanks. This is a great way to get started in the hobby of woodcarving. And you've got something to show for your efforts when you're done.

I bought these along with hook knifes also from Beavercraft. the knives are fantastic, but the wood blanks are unfortunately not perfect symmetrical and each vary a little in shape. no issue with the wood itself, but given the price, I was expecting the shapes to be perfect

I was able to make super cute spoons for 3 grandchildren. Wood was soft and easy to work. I was especially pleased with the walnut one. I didn’t expect it to cut so smoothly.

I gave these to my grandson, along with some carving tools and a book on carving. He loved them! So much healtheir than something electronic.

Holz sieht gut aus, lässt sich gut schnitzen. Bisher keine Probleme.

Good size for smaller teaspoons.
