My kids favorite book
My sons love this book. It’s short and sweet but funny enough to keep them asking for it every nite. They never tire of it and I never tire of reading it. I have two kids aged three and six years old.

okay but not worth $9.87
The preview didn't give you much to go off of but I took a chance thinking why would they charge 9.87 for a kindle version if it wasn't good. Within minutes I was very disappointed. I would have paid two dollars and some change but not 9.87. Feeling a bit ripped off.

Owl Will I Get Rid of this Scarf?
I am rarely happy receiving clothes as a gift, one notable time was when I was given a mustard polo neck jumper; it did not take long for me to convince the cat to pluck that particular item. Little Owl has a similar opinion of his newly knitted orange scarf that his mother made him, but how can he get rid of it in a ‘natural’ way? Tatyana Feeney’s ‘Little Owl's Orange Scarf’ is a mischievous children’s book that explores what some little tykes will get up to when you are not looking. The story of ‘Little Owl’ is a very good one; funny, kind hearted, with a nice twist at the end that will entertain a young reader. The paper is of a good quality and the book the perfect size for a night-time read, so it should be a shoe-in for a top recommendation. Unfortunately, the illustrations are just not as good as the story. There is a place in children’s books for naïve art, but ‘Little Owl’ is not only naïve, but also a little flat and lifeless at time. For a book that has such a fun story, the pictures feel a little disappointing. They almost feel like they have been photocopied and transferred to the page, or scanned in poorly.Thankfully, I enjoyed the story enough that the lacklustre pictures do not take too much away from the experience. With a little more vibrancy in her images, Feeney is on the way to writing some excellent children’s books.

Little Owl's orange scarf - another toddler hit!
We already have Tatyana Feeney's other book Small Bunny's Blue Blanket which was a total hit with our toddler and this one has gone the same way. The simple story and simple drawings are thoroughly enjoyed and bring smiles and some humour. Both books add humour to toddler behaviour - the separation of a much loved blanket or toy to be washed in Small Bunny's.. and the dislike of an item of clothing and trying to 'lose it' in Little Owl. The story goes that Little Owl's mother knits him a scarf which he does not like and it goes 'missing' on a trip to the zoo. However, he gets another scarf made by his mother which he likes much better as he helped make it by choosing the wool. After this story, my toddler wants to choose wool and knit him a scarf! The simple style may not be for some, but we really like the naivety of it. We are looking forward to her next book!

Odd lesson
We found this book a little bit odd as it seems to be teaching something opposite to what you are always saying to your child.A little owl has an orange scarf he does not like so on a trip to the zoo he loses it and his mum goes and buys him a scarf he does like and everybody admires his new scarf. So if you don't like something get rid of it and you will get a new one? Not the best lesson. On the plus size the illustrations are simple but beautiful and despite how the story ends there is something chRming in the tale. Our little boy will listen to the story and remembers it but never asks for the book. It's an ok book but not the biggest hit with our little one.
