Amazing - Best Alanis DVD
Based along the lines of Jagged Little Pill live with live concert performances and talks from Alanis and the band - but in soo many ways better. It's mainly featuring live performances from the Under Rug Swept tour but showing mutliple other camera shots from cam corders and other cameras. The concert songs are shown in 16:9 format but the interviews and talks from Alanis inbetween songs are in 4:3 format - even this doesn't take away from the dvd. It's a long dvd but doesn't get boring at any point - it shows Alanis' personality brilliantly. Most of the time I was laughing at her mucking about with the band members. There is a little strong language - but nothing too bad. All round a great dvd. The added audio cd is also brilliant - it's b sides and acoustic performances. Obviously if you have bought every Alanis single you'll already have all the songs on the cd but it's a great cd none-the-less. If you like concert dvds this is a great package and if you like Alanis this is a must have.

She was given scraps & she made a meal out of it.
The advantage of B-sides is there isn’t any pressure, as fans buy single for the a-side & if there’s a decent bonus song, that’s a nice little extra, which "Feast of Scrapes" feels like. The strongest tracks on the CD all have an Indian influence to them (“Bent for you”, “Unprodigal Daughter” & “Purga Touring”, with “Unprodigal..” being strong enough to feature on the “Under Rug Swept” album itself. The DVD features an incendiary & emotionally charged live show, which is spoilt some what by home-made footage of the tour, or the making of the album between each song, it’s interesting to watch, it's just breaks the momentum of the concert. Also some of the songs feature cam-corder footage, with pretty poor sound quality (I guess the footage is trying to giving the viewer the feeling of being in the middle of the audience). Alanis could have put all this footage at the start of the DVD.So worth buying for songs on the CD, the DVD is a missed opportunity to show a really special concert.

Any true fan must own this!
I bought this DVD two days before I went to see Alanis in Manchester on 22nd April 2005. I wanted to know what to expect from one of her gigs before I went, as this is the first I had been to. It gave me a real insight as to what I should expect from her and also in to the personaility of Alanis herself. It shows her laughing, crying, talking about her friends, surfing, getting her hair braided, dancing in a shop, songwriting and basically all the things she gets up to between shows. It's a must for any true fan, I love it. Very entertaining!! Plus, a good selection of songs performed live of course!

Good, but not concert
It was good, but not concert. Too much talking and music partly muffled.

Feast On Scraps

An almighty feast....
Alanis Morssette. Thank you. Again - she has reamained true to her words - allowing herslef to become transparent. to be flowing and real. This dvd is the ultimate insight into the world of Alanis Morissette - her friends, ideas, hopes, dreams. Put simply, this dvd will provide every viewer with a new perspective of ms morissette. Alanis has dropped the seriousness that used to be evident in her everyday, and the music that accompanies the footage encompasses it all. Songs such as Simple Together, Surrendering and That Particular Time - full of emotion but with the hook of a hit. The DVD quality is poor in sections - live shows - however it is clear enough to see that on different days, different songs mean different things to alanis, and is evident in they way they are played.Purely for the 'rare' insight to the world of alanis i recommend this dvd to anyone interested.... especially when she pulls up in the car next to the fan.... if it ever makes it to a video store... be sure and look under comedy. hilarious.

beeindruckend

Und meine persönlichen Highlights wie "right through you", "hand in my pocket" (bis auf den Anfang), "so unsexy", "you oughta know", "uninvited", "thank you" etc. sind komplett vom Rotterdam Konzert, und überhaupt keine anderen Konzertschnipsel eingeblendet.Letztlich stellt sich also die Frage, was all das Gemeckere soll. Deshalb PRO.

Here is the Lowdown, Sweet-N-Simple!!!
I'm usually not one to write reviews, but I absolutely felt compelled to write this one, just for YOU.If you are an Alanis fan, you NEED to get this! You will truly regret not owning this.Alanis is a true artist; a true human spirit! She is still in her very prime; still at the "top of HER game"Alanis knows how to give you the chills, make youlaugh, and break your heart. This is her best work yet.Believe me when I say: this package is well worth your money. These are no scraps, but rather true gems,or at the very least, the best scraps you will have evertasted in a very long time.Alanis, if you can hear me:Thank you for touching me deeply in my heart. You'll never know how much I admire, respect, &LOVE you. You are a bright, shining star in thismarvelous, crazy confusion we call existence.Love,Time Traveler
