Basic but fun starter scope
Ordered for my daughter who, on the first night of use, has marvelled at the moon and was busy later last night trying to locate other planets to look at with the help of an I phone ap' The scope is basic and it is very lightweight which means it is not easy to keep locked into position but with a little patience and trial with different lenses, of which there are a good range supplied, you can marvel at the moon at the very least......it does make you smile when you draw it into focus and the details of the surface become clearly visible. I found the main scope very easy to assemble, the spotter scope while easy to set up moved without much provication but works with care. Supplied with a good range of lenses, basic set up instructions, user guide and moon filter this scope is an absolute bargain and a great introduction into astronomy.....it does function well as a standard telescope too which can add to the fun factor.

Good value for money, but this is a budget scope.
Good for the money. You can see the moon clearly and we have spotted Jupiter and 5 moons. It is very light however, so the slightest touch judders and wobbles the image. In addition the adjustments are not super smooth, especially focus, so use entails a cycle of gentle adjustments, letting go to let the image settle, refine, repeat. My 4 year old son if happy however (and it was bought for him). And, it is good enough to have whetted my appetite for something better.

Skywatcher mercury 607
Very good build and quality of the scope is very good. The tripod lets it down as it is very flimsy and you need to tighten the screws to the point where they could sheer off. the clarity of the scope is brilliant very easy to set up, no problems at all. gives very good views of the moon (moon filter included) use it as the moon is blinding on a clear night. very happy with this purchase will last a good while.

pretty good
this is a very good easy to set up telescope, my dad brought it for me as a gift , because i have been chosen to study astronomy after school ,because i really enjoy it . they have a wide variety of lenses which is good and my favourite would probably be the moon filter ( because it is mind blowing) sometimes the tripod can be loose and get a bit frustrating at times but not every telescope is perfect . i can be terrible at astronomy but this is so easy i can use it very easily ( and its not that complicated ) . i love this telescope and it will probably last me about a couple of years or maybe evan more . i pretty enjoy using it and on a clear night you can see nearly everything . overall this is probably the best telescope to buy for beginners.

Difficult to use
Bought this as Christmas present for my 7 year old son. Firstly there is no instructions or guide book to accompany the telescope and so it is not easy to make sense of which of the selection of eye pieces to use for your objective. The only real result we have had was looking at the moon and that was good but trying to look at other stars is difficult - the little telescope on the side, which is the sight to help aim the main telescope, is prone to move about and so does not always align properly. The system for moving the telescope is also prone to moving slightly once you think it is in position and can be frustrating. I am hoping it yields better results when I try and spot some planets. Overall a bit dissapointing.

Pretty fantastic...
Bought this as a starter scope (I am a complete amateur when it comes to astronomy), was easy enough to set up, certainly not particularly complicated. Using the basic lenses you can very clearly see the planets. Realising that you are looking at Saturn (look for the gap between the planet and the rings) is a spine-chilling moment, and will have you gazing for a good while afterwards. To be honest I am not 100% sure on the proper use of all the additional lenses, but you get a fair few included (as well as a 'moon-filter'). There isn't that much in the way of instruction in the package, but even using the most basic lens combinations reveals brilliant results. So all in all, excellent scope if you have a passing interest or are looking to get into astronomy.

Good at the price
A present for my 10 year old nephew. There are apparently issues with setting it up: a lack of instructions, but once it was up and running, he seemed pleased with how it worked. Not particularly powerful, no more than a good pair of binoculars really, but does the job and allows him to look at the moon and find more prominent stars with relative ease.
