The ties are long, so it fits around the waist and with room to tie into a bow. Obviously it doesn't fit all the way around your waist unless you have a very tiny waist...about 24 inches, but wearing tights, leggings or a swimsuit if on holiday, it's fine to show a bit of your hip.
