Fantastic headphone amplifier for a bargain price-but unreliable
This is a bargain price, real Hi-Fi quality headphone amplifier.Took some 10-12 days to arrive, but shipping was free of charge (no complaints, then).Well built, and the most incredible high quality sound.Mid, bass, treble, headroom, stereo image, ambiance and POWER, all aplenty. Sweet, sweet musical sound, played by a tube.Incredibly good for the price.I have 2 other headphone amplifiers, 5 times more expensive, that do not come anywhere close to this one in absolute terms (one is the Rega Ear)... The Bravo Audio V1 is Hi-Fi and the others are not, in comparison.4 weeks later FOLLOW-UP: Truly unbelievable performance and incredible synergy with Grado SR325is headphones. Compared with my high-end system this amplifier rocks. It's that good, specially for the TONE of the instruments. Gets you hooked really fast and for 50 pounds, it's a bargain!8 weeks later: the amplifier failed, and stopped working, not even the lights turn on (it's not the power supply). I returned it to the source, but since it's in China it takes a really long time to get there (3 weeks later I am still waiting for it to arrive to CN). Major inconvenience. But still, the sound of the amplifier, WHEN it worked, was absolutely magnificent!!! I am degrading the rate to 4 stars due to poor reliability. In the meantime I also purchased the Bravo Ocean, with the 12AU7 tube and it doesn't sound as good. The V1 is still the BEST sounding, by far.

Amazing!
Got this for the valve sound - didn't expect much - but it's simply blown me away - it's that good!I'm using it with a set of Sennheiser HD419's with the open vent mod (search for this handy trick), and it sounds amazing. Really smooth and detailed bass - nice mids and smooth top end. Audio from my AC97 mb sound card now sounds musical - almost HIFI!, Audio from my record deck sounds excellent, Audio from my cassette deck is so so smooth (wm-d6c).This thing packs a mighty wallop loudness wise - I have not turned it above 2 (if it was labelled to 10) - and even that is loud! I did test it on full - with headphones away from my head of course - so damn loud - distorted the hell out of the cans - thought it was gonna blow the drivers! :PIt's a nice looking unit when powered on Blue LED underneat tube mixes with Red led behind it - to give a nice blue->purple->red gradient. The thing runs hot - the tube is warmish - the Heatsinks on the side are blazing hot - watch out!Highly recommended to any audio heads!Edit: It broke 3 days later - agghh! I plugged it into my new brand mixing desk (Yamaha MG10XU ) - and something bad happened!!No idea if it was a grounding issue or a spike or whatnot - but the thing won't power up properly any more - it pulses with power every second - the LEDS pulse also - and the audio output throbs along with it - like it's trying to get into some kind of feedback loop to startup. I suspect the power adapter blew or something on the amp board popped. So I tried it with a 27v 2a switching power supply (instead of the 24v 1.5a it comes with, the big CAP is rated at 25V - so I will get a new higher quality 24v later) - and it works again - it still does this ugly pulsing seven times before it starts to work! I still rate it as excellent sound quality - but it seems it has no surge/spike or whatever protection that caused this to happen. Real shame this thing, apart from this catastrophic issue is superb!

Sounds brilliant, but treat it with lurv!
Sounds beautiful. Arrived quickly. My only concern and recommendation is that the headphone sockets and RCA phono inputs are mounted directly on the circuit board and are fairly tight, so the soldered connections may suffer over time from the wear and tear of swapping headphones and inputs, especially if you are rough, drunk or in a hurry! I'd suggest you get a short 1/4 inch flexible "patch lead" cable extender which you can leave permanently plugged in and let that proxy socket take the strain without loading the soldered PCB connections each time you swap headphones about. Same with the 3.5mm input and phono inputs, if you are swapping sources a lot. The open design is cool, but a bit of a dust trap which could clag up the circuitry over time. When not in use I found a clear box keeps the fluff out. This is a fantastic product, more especially at the price. It drives high impedance headphones (such as the 600 ohm AKG K240 sextets which I have used) superbly with huge reserves of power. Anyone trying to drive higher impedance cans from an iPod or laptop will be pleasant surprised how good the source sounds when you allow a decent valve amp to deal with the task of amplifying a clean signal into a high impedance load.

Pretty good amp in terms of sound quality
Pretty good amp in terms of sound quality, nice lamp, looking good and all but it starts cracking after three months. And there's no way to return it after that time :/ So I'd rather advice to beware. If you want a good headphone amp you should rather buy more solid construction (something more like 200£ at least I guess).

The amp sounds great, however with the amp you get sent an illegal power supply with no fuse. Enjoy your new headphones with a side of electrocution and death
