Lagom

I really liked the book

I’m not absolutely sure why I picked up this book, I believe it was curiosity about wanting to know more about what the fuss was or wasn’t about Lagom. If never heard or read about the term before and now I’ve read this book I’m curious why it’s sorta been kept a secret. The concept is akin to doing things in moderation and the Swedes’ appear to have perfected that. I pretty much enjoyed the read as after all any more or less wouldn’t be Lagom

I had to go sit in IKEA for an hour after finishing this book. Need to book my trip to Sweden ASAP. In all seriousness though, the book was such a treat. I enjoyed reading it and applying some of the tips to my life. It's just such a cozy book! Loved it.

I bought 3 kinds of Lagom books which admittedly is not very Lagom. I intend to give them to my sisters so I didn't mind the variety. I just really like comparing so I can ensure I know which is the best. The book reads like a magazine with different themes and cute photos and guides. There's recipes and lists and examples and name drops a lot of Swedish brands. I don't mind the layout nor the content at all. It seems quite lagom. However, what I did find a nuisance which is why I am giving it a 3 is the color printing of the book. The black font against the dark green background on a number of pages is not a good combination. I could barely read those parts and there's a number of those pages. If they fixed that part, I would add another star. Having said that, I also bought Niki Brantmark's book and that one has more words and less pictures and I like it better. I also bought another book which I am still waiting for, and with other available books on Lagom, I would skip this one. Sorry.

Some of the words that came to me while traveling in Sweden were wise, moderate and sensible. After reading this book I can see that respect for those traits is baked into Swedish culture. Lagom makes sense, it's something missing in our society where the radical extremes seem to rule the day. We need to energize the middle and pull the extremes toward the center, instead of pulling the center to the extremes.

Great little book for the sitting area in the kitchen. ‘Lagos’ has been a family mantra for years and this colorful little book is great to read and display.

Although this is just a sample of the full book, it held my interest nicely. I have embraced the ideas of minimalism, Konmaried my spaces, donated books and art supplies to charity, etc. I read about the concept of Hygge. This is similar in scope but it permits you to determine for yourself what is enough. Use what you have and do without what is not necessary. Nice, I like it.

Loved the simple ideas for simple living. Great suggestions for minimizing daily life. Practical suggestions and ideas for daily living. All can be put into practice immediately.

Nice gift for someone leaving Sweden

Learned so much about the culture……we could use a little of this lifestyle in our daily lives for sure. Great ideas to try in your own personal life as well.
