Overall the tie is pretty cool. Lots of compliments. I bought it to wear in a dance performance being put on my Dads at the end of a recital. Just figured I would have some fun with it.There are two things to watch out for...1. It is not a full length tie. I would say it is closer to being the size of a kids tie. The description says you can adjust the length, but they are referring to the part that goes around your next....so you can adjust the length to fit over a bigger head. I solved this "short tie" problem by leaving it loose around my neck (but that worked for the type of dance we were doing).2. It does not show up at all in bright light. As I was backstage or in hallways, the neon purple glowed brilliantly. Out on stage, with all the stage lights shining, you just couldn't see the light at all. I would imagine for a school event --- dance, football game, etc. --- you would be fine, but not at the gym all lit up.

Ok..."tie" is not really how to describe these. They are one step away from a clip-on but better because, the bolo-like loop used to attach them means you can wear them in more situations. A friend was at a recent party in a turtle neck and I had this in my car as an extra tie option. Loaned it to him and it went perfectly with his sweater. Great conversation piece and fun to wear.You can make it flash or burn steady. The AA batteries required mean you can wear it for quite awhile. The party where this was worn was 6+ hours and the batteries never gave out. Took it to a second Party that went from 5Pm until 2AM and the batteries STILL kept going. (Maybe it was the energizer brand I used?)The nylon used to keep the neon piping attached to the tie element is not likely to hold up for too long but, the price is not that expensive. And the look works!Had tons of compliments and questions on where to buy these fun ties. Will buy them again in more colors.

My wife got me the tie and glasses for the annual father-daughter dance sponsored by the local girl scouts. The theme this year was 'black light', so it seemed appropriate to wear light-up accessories. Not only did the tie and glasses work great, but they got us a lot of attention and compliments, which my daughter loved.I only have used the items once, but they held up just fine and I'm sure they'll work the next time. The wired remote for the glasses was especially useful-- I could play tricks on the kids and change the light-up mode of the glasses with a touch of a button near my belt. I had some of the girls thinking the glasses worked via voice command or telepathy. I know, I'm evil...Good product, good results. I'll use it again.

this tie looks really nice and makes you stand out from the crowd at night when its on. it looks really good in the dark, especially in a dark bar or club. its still noticeable when on in well lit areas like restaurants but because the way the tie looks and the way it was built. it doesn't look good when the light is off. thats why i couldn't give this tie 5 stars. i do recommend this tie if your going to a light party or just want to stand out at night. the packaging it came in was good.

I purchased the Light Up Tie (Blue) for my son'd 1st Homecoming Dance with a date. The tie was exactly what he wanted. My only dislike was that the tie had a horrific odor when we recevied it. We tried to mask the smell with different products and up to the night of wearing the tie it still had the odor. Finally we were able to mask for the most part with cologne. I would recommend purchase of this tie, but buy in advance so that you are able to eliminate the associated smell of the tie.

Figured I'd spring on this as a random goofy purchase. It was OK.It arrived weirdly folded, which wouldn't be a big deal for just cloth. But because of the plastic tube lighting, it's like permanently folded that way? I might be able to straighten it out, but it's proving difficult. After attempting once and putting it on, the light wire looks wobbly and weird, and I honestly wouldn't want to wear that for a DJ performance as I had originally intended.Anyway, it's fine? But not great. Keep your expectations low.

Very cool looking tie. It is a great idea and so fun! The quality of construction is very poor. the light up cord that wraps around the perimeter is stiff but ok. The fabric inside is not fully affixed to the light up wire and is not hemmed. Frayed edges were sticking out in places around the wire. Also, the zipper part of the putting the tie on is not ideal. It seems like it will break easily. We would have preferred a real tie but it works for now. That being said, it is a very fun addition for anyone to wear to a party (we bought it for my son who is in a business program in college - big hit there!)

I bought this tie in spite of some of the negative reviews. I don't know what they expected. I think it lights up just fine. Looks great in a semi-dark to dark room. Not bad in a lit room. My only complaint is that it kinda curls up a little at the bottom. Other than that, no problems.
