Sewing with Sergers: The Complete Handbook for Overlock Sewing (Serging . . . from Basics to Creative Possibilities series)

Really useful little book
I've been a keen sewer for many years but didn't get round to buying an overlocker until recently. This little book has opened up a whole new world of possibilities and all the information is in easy to find, bite size chunks.Lots of shortcuts and information. I also bought Complete Serger Handbook by Chris James but "Sewing with Sergers" is far superior. I can see this one getting dog-eared very quickly!

Once frustrated overlocker
As someone who is an experienced home sewing machinist and now the owner of a Husqvarna overlocker I too found the manufacturer's book nothing short of useless. So I find this little book and almost all my questions have been answered in one place, simply and clearly. Nothing frivolous about this book - don't expect a "glossy" but it has to be one of the best serger reference books on the market. You probably can't find a more comprehensive book anywhere

Useful book, but arrived with loose pages.
This book must have been printed years ago, judging by the retro pictures. It has some useful information, which will come in handy, but I was disappointed to see that pages 1 to 18 were loose, and hardly attached to the spine at all. I will have to use sellotape to stop the pages from falling out. I didn't expect that with a new book! I think they have been hanging around in a warehouse for years and have deteriorated a little.

Great for beginners
I bought this book when I bought my overlocker. It has given me many ideas and also meant that I understand what I can do with my machine, other than just neatening edges. The illustrations are only outline drawings (no photos) and a little bit 1980s in design, but it did not detract from the good info I picked up.I think a more experienced user would probably know all of this stuff, but it really worked for a newbie like me.

A great book for someone new to serging!
I bought this book to help me with a brand new Janome serger/overlocker. Being a very experienced sewing machinist, but totally new to the art of overlocking, I found the machine daunting and the handbook that came with the machine inadequate. This little book by Gail and Pati has been amazing, giving me all the information I needed in a very straightforward way. It moved me from feeling that maybe the machine was a big mistake, to wondering how I managed without it, and all this was in a few days and only a few hours of practice. The book gives enough examples of what the machine will do to show it's potential. Well done Gail and Pati!

Higland Fling
Bought this before I purchased my Serger/Overlocker to help me make up my mind what machine to buy. Although an American publication the information applies to UK products equally as well. It explains technical terminology and gives guidance on what features to look for. If you've never had an Serger/Overlocker before this book is essential reading. I will consider other publications by the same authors.

Easy to follow guide - how a serger works and how to use one
I bought this book because I want to buy an overlocker and I know I will need help understanding the different features before I buy and how to use it after I buy.The explanations of stitches and how they are formed are clear and easy to understand, but better still, the ideas about how to use an overlocker, and what it can do for you, are inspiring. It is sewing - but not as we know it! I can't wait to buy one and get started.

A reasonable instruction manual
I bought this book in advance of buying an overlocker to get some idea what I could expect to do with it.I suppose that, being written 30 years ago, the clothing styles will be dated, but even so, the illustrations of what can be achieved actually put me off buying one!Nevertheless, this short booklet seems to be a competent guide to the techniques and methods for the use of the machine, and on those grounds I would recommend it.

Awesome little book!
Helps make learning how to use your serger a little less scarey. All the info you need, is right at your fingertips.

What everyone who is just learning to use a Serger needs.
It gives great instructions and helps remind you of just what you need to do after you have taken classes. Great pictures to go along with instructions

Sewing with sergers

Great book for getting to know your serger and its abilities!
This book covers everything you'll need to know about how to operate and adjust your serger tensions for different types of stitches for the best effect, as well as how to troubleshoot issues you may be having with it. Highly recommended!
