How long does it work?

Dear Cole, Tks for your question, I am not sure if you ask for the product life or others. Please note that one 9v battery can use for 4 hours without stopping. For our product, we don't say lifetime for it, usually it can use for several years, and it also depends on how often and how long time you use it. Wish you understand it. Tks and have a nice day. ---Ranseners customer service

Can it detect cell phones?

Dear Ricardo, Yes, usually cell phone with steel material, our detector can detect it well. Tks for your question and wish you a nice weekend. ---Ranseners customer service

Can I detect nails in the middle of a log with this?

Dear gerardo , Tks for your question, yes, please kindly note that our detector can detect nails in the log, but it depends on the log width and nail size, the bigger size of nail & less width of log, the sensitivity of the detector will be stronger. Have a nice day. ---Ranseners customer service

Does this detect gold lost my gold ring in the attic can't find it in the insulation

I just tried my scanner on my wedding ring. YES it does work -- BUT you have to have the switches on the side in the right position. The RED swatch should be ON -- but the BLACK switch should be OFF. If both switched are on, it won't detect the ring. Good Luck
