Complete Sinawali: Filipino Double-weapon Fighting (Tuttle Martial Arts) (Complete Martial Arts) Paperback – Illustrated, 20 Sept. 2000

Having just added Escrima training to my usual Wing Chun practice I needed an out of lesson source of information, my instructor recommended this book. Just started reading it and finding it very interesting.. Only read intro and history so far , just getting to drills and techniques.

It's not bad but the down side to it is basic. And in my opinion it's titled " complete sinawali" there is no umbrella technique, there's no abanico technique, kob kob, largo mano 5 etc. I could go on but it's not bad. Just feel they should have not titled it as that and titled it “basic sinawali“. Instead.

I found this book clearly laid out, clearly illustrated and well written.Unfortunately it presupposes the reader already knows a great deal of terminology, such as what actions the very colourful and indeed poetic names of the various basic strikes actually describe.With some way to access this basic information I'm sure the various patterns would be quite simple to learn.So it was completely useless to me, but for a student who is already studying this art I'm sure it would be a fine reminder of what they are being taught.

Quite short at just over 100 pages. It left me with a feeling of insufficiency, You'll find better books for the same money, Very little info about the strategies and applications.Also I have to agree with other comment:As with most martial arts books that demonstrate techniques, the photos are small and frequently struggle to convey the actual movement being described. However, this is more a reference book than a tutorial.

Written by one of the Pillars of Ilustrisimo, Master Rey Galang, This book contains 18 Double stick sinawali drills. Each drill has a picture breakdown and description. I thought it would be hard to follow but it made sense. Although each drill can have many variations this covers more sinawali drills than most people ever practice. Highly recommended to increase you agility and knowledge with double stick.If you have no knowlege of Escrima, Kali, Arnis this may not be where you start. But if you are looking for a good all in one reference book you will find this book very helpful.

Libretto semplice in lingua inglese che illustra i vari sinawali, purtroppo le foto sono un po' piccoline quindi bisogna andare per intuizione,le tecniche sono utili se già si studia l'Escrima per il resto bisogna dire che per un appassionato integra le conoscenze delle arti marziali filippine
