The edges on the dishes are sharp. They look nice, but they have a very cheap feel to them. I would return them, but I am past the 30 day return policy.

I have never gotten melamine dishware before so I wasn't sure what I would be getting. I got these specifically to be used for outdoor dining in my backyard, or to take camping with me. For those purposes they are fine and get the job done, all while not risking any of my better dishware.That being said, there could be a fair amount of improvement out of the box. The edges on all the plates had scrap plastic from the molding process. Sure, I was able to use some fine sandpaper to remove, but I also risked scratching the top and bottoms of the plates. Also with the plates, the centers had pits or scrap plastic in them from the molding process. Again for camping, sure they work fine, but for dinner party etc they are pretty rough looking.It's unfortunate because I really like the look of them, but the molding process was sloppy and have relegated this set to my camping supplies since they are so lightweight.

These are really pretty dishes. I was so excited they were coming that I cleaned out my cupboards to make room. Then I noticed my big (for me) mistake. I missed the small bit in the description about not being able to microwave in them. That matters to me way more than I like to admit.For soups and stews, stir-fries and all those types of meals it’s the main way I reheat the inevitable extra servings every recipe makes. I often cook for two then eat for two days that way. Non-microwavable dishes are not going to work in my life.I love the look of these dishes. They have a nice heft, but are still lightweight. They would make a great set for a family with young children if the microwave thing doesn’t matter. The bowls are a nice deep large size that would be super for salads. The stone look of these dishes is spot-on. On one side they really look like stoneware. The backs do not have the same look and are plain.I am betting that if I were to drop them they would hold up very well. I don’t intend to test that, but I suspect their durability is excellent which would matter a lot in a family with small children.If you like the look of these and want a durable set of dishes I do think they are lovely. I think they would work perfect for a camper where microwaves aren’t used as much. They stack well, are fairly lightweight and generally not apt to break and that makes them the perfect “ glam-camping” dishes.
