Heat Reflective Survival Mylar Thermal Space Blanket Pack of 50 Our space blanket, also known as a mylar blanket (for first aid, safety, thermal, or weather blanket), is a light, airy blanket made from heat-reflecting plastic. The thin sheet of plastic is coated with a metallic reflector known as a metalized polyethylene, which reflects ups to 90% of radiated heat. The design of the space blanket helps reduce the loss of heat in a person's body due to thermal radiation, evaporation, or convection. The blanket was first developed by NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in 1964. Great for maintaining temperature during a heated stone massage. Review: good price for basic item - I don't know that I bought enough brands to find much difference in space blankets but these are as advertised. they can tear but so do any of the others that I'veI bought in the past. I need a bulk pack because I use these to cover things like car seats when mechanics are getting in, or my clothes smell like fragrance and I don't want my car to smell like fragrance... And to line or cover all the stuff I don't want to end up smelling like what I'm near, because I am fragrance sensitive and chemical sensitive. Odors go thru plastic bags--and plastic bags have their own odors. These are plastic (so they don't tear like tin foil) but the foil costing mskes them odor-proof. I make baggies with foil tape to cover gently-used pillows when traveling (with anither cotton cover over it for strength, stuff like that...and though I can often wipe and reuse sheets if tbese, I also don't feel as bad about disposing of them when I don't want to carry dirt or stink with me...yeah wasteful, but it is hard to live with my sensitivities, I'm doing the best i can. I wish there were less fragile foil blankets for being able to easily wash--sometimes they are disposed of because they got torn up in use, but they make it thru as car seat covers for a trip to mechanic.

**Q: How do you clean these blankets?**
A: Usually it is disposable. It cost just $0.60 a piece. But you can clean it any way you like - wipe, wash.

**Q: Can it be used inside infrared sauna blanket?**
A: This foil mylar blanket isolate heat and cold. It preserves temperature or trap the temperature. If you wrap yourself inside sauna blanket you will loose the whole point of sauna. You will isolate heat of sauna because you put foil between heat and your body. It is great with HealthyLine heating pads to CREATE a sauna. When you just cover your body while laying on the heating mat - you trap all the heat for yourself.

**Q: Can you use this foil with infrared LIT  waist  belt**
A: You can use it but do not put between body and the belt. Wrap around the body and the belt outside.

I don't know that I bought enough brands to find much difference in space blankets but these are as advertised. they can tear but so do any of the others that I'veI bought in the past. I need a bulk pack because I use these to cover things like car seats when mechanics are getting in, or my clothes smell like fragrance and I don't want my car to smell like fragrance... And to line or cover all the stuff I don't want to end up smelling like what I'm near, because I am fragrance sensitive and chemical sensitive. Odors go thru plastic bags--and plastic bags have their own odors. These are plastic (so they don't tear like tin foil) but the foil costing mskes them odor-proof.
