Good idea, but can hit with quite a thump
It's almost 10C degrees outside, and some friends have come around to play in the garden. Perfect time to test out some water bombs.I set them up with two buckets of (warm) water, they arranged in to two teams (three each) and started flinging the bombs at each other. The water balls were easy to fill, the children's ages ranged from 3 to 9 and they were all participating. The balls when empty aren't too heavy, but when filled with water they can pack quite a punch. The game continued for a reasonable time, people going in and collecting the halves up. The balls themselves do open on impact, but due to their construction don't really get the recipient that wet (the water bounces off). The game continued for quite some time, until someone threw a ball hard and too close to someone else. This is something that will need to be kept in check and ensure that the games don't become too boisterous if there is a range of ages.

Water balls
These were great fun. We had the best water fight without having to stop and make lots of water balloons up. It’s a really quick process to use; a very clever design. I like that this is friendlier to the environment as they are reusable rather than the little one time only water balloons. It’s quite fun to throw them and also squeeze them and the water squirts out. We played a daring catch game to catch it lightly so it doesn’t break open. Lots of fun.I would say to be mindful of throwing them hard on bare skin. Legs got caught a couple of times and will leave a little mark, but nothing that stops play. The children were quite close together and throwing over arm so more powerful. At a distance, should be much better. It’s ever so easy to do.Quite expensive, however, if they continue to work, they can be seen as good value. I will update my review if there are any problems

OK in use - Relatively easy to refill - More environmentally friendly
So I suppose certainly more environmentally friendly than the disposable single use water balloons that you would use there is quite a difference though in terms of function and I would say they should only be used by older children. They are pretty great forward to use but at £20 for a pack of 12 they're certainly a little more on the pricey side. Being a proper product means that quality seems pretty good and I imagine they would last for quite some time.

Reusable, non-latex Super Soaker water bombs
These silicone (?) water holding balls are fairly soft and squishy, though are also quite thick so could potentially deliver a bit of a sting along with a soaking if thrown with real force. They separate easily into two halves and both halves have lip sections which help to keep water in when refilling. We’re only just into April, so it’s a bit cold yet to be battling with these - but I think my older nephews (and my brothers!) will have great fun with them out in the garden during the Summer. Being reusable makes these more environmentally friendly than traditional water balloons and since they’re not made of latex (to which one of my nephews is allergic) the boys will actually be able to play with them. These are supplied in largely environmentally-friendly packaging: a simple brown box with basic black printing, and card dividers inside keeping the refillable balls separated. The packaging doesn’t really reveal what’s inside. The only plastic involved was a single piece of tape holding the box shut.

Loads of fun
These water balls are a lots of fun. Fill one half with water and close the other half over it to create a seal. Launch them at your pals like water balloons for a good old water fight. Remember to pick up the broken balls afterwards as they are reusable, just fill them up again and off you go. The y are pretty solid when full of water and don’t pop open too easily for carrying. Great fun and the kids love them.
