It's very heavy, thick, beautiful hand blown glass. The base is a combination of metal and plastic. The parts are all easy to clean and the included ant mote is keeping the ants out so far. I fill the ant mote with water each time I fill the feeder and the water remains until the next feeding. The hummers love it! It's a huge upgrade from the old plastic feeder I tossed out. I was initially worried that if it fell in a storm or got knocked down by squirrels the glass might break, so I have it hanging over hostas in my flowerbed as a cushion.
