John Wick [4K Ultra-HD] [2015] [Blu-ray] [2017]

John Wick first of the series of films and what a cracker it is. It was only a dog yeah but its John Wicks dog. He is not a person be messed with. Every heard the story of the boogieman, what he is the boogieman, no he is the man you call in to rid of the the boogieman. Some great lines and a story. Great action film and well thought out. One of them occasions where they picked on the wrong guy.

Okay first time I saw the trailer for john wick i was was like "meh same old typical Hollywood bull trying to pass it off as a nostalgic eighties action flick", oh boy was I wrong by a hell of a margin, no spoilers here but this is quite possibly one of the best movies (in my opinion) ever. As a movie like this done on a budget of 20 mill and a first time pair of directors who collaborated with Keanu in the matrix movies food for thought there, comes as a massive surprise I didn't even bother going to see it at the cinemas I just bought a copy on sale in hmv and thought ahh what the hell could be a okay movie but its so much more the dialogue and attention to detail sharp tight fight choreography no shaky cam crap is something amazing its dark and brutal, well acted out and refreshing to have a villain that isn't your typical, cliche idiot that thinks he's the shit, he respects john wick and has a history with him but like I said no spoilers its just worth watching yourself to see just how good this movie is. Hell I remember reading a review somewhere else about how that person loved it and the fact that it did alright in ticket sales scored it a green light for a potential sequel only now after the millions of copies of this movie it has become a cult classic among fans a film that differs from a lot of modern action films, kind of reminds me of training day or the equalizer or in some ways death wish but that is for the viewer to find out, its just an awesome movie with Keanu doing his best acting since the matrix trilogy, its also one of those low budget back end of winter movies that grows into a money making behemoth overnight kind of like Deadpool, anyway just watch it and judge for yourself it might not be for everyone, but if your looking for a refreshing well written and well acted action thriller with a body count to match Schwarzenegger then trust me john wick will serve you well, cannot wait for john wick chapter two I feburary 2017 that is going to be insane.

I just LOVED this movie. I suppose it is a fairly light reason for John Wick to unleash himself on the world once again. However, gorgeous car and cute dog would probably do it for me too. If anyone hurt my dog, I'd probably beat them up too.All the main actors are superb. Michael Niqvist is brilliant as the Russian mob boss, and Alfie Allen is very good as his son, who doesn't have much (if anything) in the way of redeeming qualities. He is basically an entitled little brat. Willem Dafoe has a relatively small part, but he is excellent as always. However, Keanu Reeves IS John Wick. The fight scenes have a grace and beauty about them, and all the more so for the fact that aside from possibly one or two stunts, he did all of it himself - and in long takes. I can't help be thoroughly impressed by a guy who at 50 makes most actors his own age (and younger) look clunky on screen. I really enjoy films like this, but I can't help thinking that this film is going to age much better than the Die Hard movies have, possibly because John Wick wears some snazzy suits rather than a scabby old vest. I'm looking forward to the next installment. I'm just really hoping they don't screw it up cos it would be a terrible shame. If you are interested to see just how good Reeves is with a gun and how much actual gun training he did for the movie (let alone the Jiu Jitsu he learned) there is a video up on YouTube which is worth watching. I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of him that's for sure! Ah, found it. He's a pretty good shot![...]

Well now, lookie here, semi-pretty boy Mr Reeves is back in town.... behold the dark night. Right, that's night and not Knight. When I read the blurb about this, I was very skeptical that Reeves could ever be or play this kind of dark, malevolent, nasty and plain ruthless killer - he just doesn't have it in him - it's not his thing. He's too nice. He's the surfer guy from Point Break, right. The Guy from Speed, right. He doesn't look like a bad guy, play 'bad' guys, or a brutal ruthless killer at all. It won't work. He is miscast. But remember Tom Cruise in Collateral? Is it therefore unfair to typecast? No, not really, how many 'bad guys' has cruise played since then? Why do just one movie, just to test your range just to prove to the wider audience you can play that part, then stop there, why not go on and play a whole host of different bad guys? Because like Reeves, that's not his thing. Let's be real and honest, do you see Reeves or Cruise playing Mr Blond in Reservoir Dogs? Me neither.So knowing that, and as this 'film' goes on, and you realise what you're witnessing. But then, for some strange reason, he seems to grow into the part, as the movie goes on, which is a hard thing to explain. But by half way, I was thinking, forget typecasting, this isn't that bad at all. But this is a 15 rating, Why? Why not put the swearing and the real nastiness in it and make it a proper 18. It feels a bit tame in that sense. The Sin City 2 or anime stuff gives it almost a comical, parody, piss-take of serial killer flicks, is this making fun of serial killer flicks? Poking fun at them? With such a non-story, and non-revenge... all that killing, for killing sake, there's way too many in the night club scene - we have quantity instead of quality and it gets too much... Was almost expecting Powers Booth to show up, and not Ian McShane - who is horribly wasted in this, as is Willem Defoe - they hardly get any screen time, why would they take a movie with such small parts?There's no need to talk of the plot or the story, there isn't much of a one... this is all about Reeves and violence and killing. About Mr John Wick, retired underworld hitman - but that's all we know... and that's the failing of the movie - we don't really get to know much about him.. only he lost his wife, he got a puppy, and he kills a lot, used to work for the Russians, and not much else... there's no real character evaluation, we never really get that close to the character... The scene where we learn his motive...that the Russians didn't give him time to grieve his loss, and he's embittered, the first ten minutes of the movie, was a drag, and I nearly switched it off, for that reason, it's not reason enough, hence the weak story...If you watched this just as pure action flick then it probably worked. The sound track fitted the movie, but the darkness of it all, with Reeves as the main lead, is still not really fully there.... This gets four stars however because it has the right mentality and a huge effort has gone into making this, to become that darker in the sequel... the potential is there, it was worth watching till the end once you get into it, there are good action scenes, even if the story is very weak overall...

Que más da que sea una edición en inglés!Lo más importante es tenerla en la videoteca personal y disfrutar de una buena película cuyos diálogos se conocen más que de sobra por haberla visto en español. Y además a un precio corriente.

John Wick is a movie that you can’t see just once! Although it is extremely violent, it carries with it a message that good shall prevail over evil. I had seen it originally on the big screen and wanted added to my collection.Keanu Reeves is a superb actor and does his usual terrific job in portraying John Wick. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.
