Its an okay book with easy flowers and designs to make in cake design
I have liked Rosalind Miller as a cake designer for a while she has amazing cakes on her website so, I was excited to learn about this book. I design cakes myself but not on her level and I am always learning. I thought once I had received the book I would find great inspiration and a few new techniques but in fairness, there are better books out there. For me most of the designs are basic so isn't really suited to me but would suit a beginner. The layout of the instructions is good and clear and easy to follow once you have the equipment you need. The book for me is more about the design of the cake than anything else but you will find recipes at the beginning of the book to help you bake.

Target Audience
This book is very good for design inspirations. The pictures are good and clear. However there is no equipment supplier list. There is no list of the exact paste colours for example, just says paste colours.I therefore think this booked is aimed at more experienced cake decorators who already have purchased all the equipment used in the book or know where to get them from. It might be a bit intimidating for beginners in that respect.Experienced cake decorators on the other hand may be overly critical or disappointed by the book in the sense that apart from showing you how to make the beautiful enchanted cake, there is no real complexity of new techniques, or perhaps it's her genius of making simple techniques look so enchanting.

Excellent purchase
I bought this book because my partner asked me to make the purchase.I received a brand new, shrink-wrapped book. She (my partner) is very happy. What more can I say....

Disappointing
On opening my package I was really looking forward to sitting on the sofa and looking at beautiful cakes. But when I opened the book I was really disappointed. The cakes were nothing special, and the instructions although very clear on how to make the sugar decorations are quite basic level. I am a cake maker with a few years experience and have lots of books (they are a guilty secret of mine) but I certainly won't buy a Rosalind miller again.

The book has very little details on how to make ...
The book has very little details on how to make an actual cake; e.g. how far in advance should a fruit cake be made? Also has no details on where to source ingredients , or general tips for generic cakes. 90% of the book is on how to recreate some very specific examples, which are lovely, but not at all what I'm interested in. Quite disappointing really.
