As it's round, it's not easy to figure out which way to slide it by touch alone, and trying to reattach means lining it up fairly precisely which means fumbling around. Also with the key removed, the magnet pulls in the padlock key next to it, which means the slot can be filled when I come to reattach .. easy to clear but just another obstacle to fumble with.
