Just Jazz Real Book: C Edition (Just Real Books Series)

Hands down, the best!
This volume of jazz tunes was compiled with the musician in mind. I say that because the publishers focused on: a.) accuracy, b.) quality selection, and c.) ease of use. If you're looking for a real or fake book, look no further. This is where to invest wisely. Here is why this real book differs from the rest:1.) It is sturdy and spiral bound.2.) It uses a large JAZZ font for the chords that is easy to see.3.) The songs are in the ORIGINAL keys.4.) The selection is excellent.5.) There is a DISCOGRAPHY included; you can go to the recordings and understand the arrangements it uses.6.) There is an extra chapter on voicings. You'll fall in love with the chord changes--so rich and beautiful. I ordered this along with the Just Standards volume, and I can see I'll be using them for a long time.

It's a great jazz book lyrics and all
I have used this book for three years and used it a lot. Over time and loaning it to friends, i needed to. have a back-up. I love it what more can i say.

Just Jazz Real Book
The fakebook contained many classic and more modern jazz pieces. The contents of the book were excellent, however, it would have been better if it had been spiral bound since the current binding is difficult to keep flat on the piano. I will definitely make more similar purchases in the future.

Great Lookin' Book..
400 pages of sheet music with lyrics, melodies and suggested comping chords. It's very inspiring for a jazz player to try inversions of the chords and create your own arrangement. You can also use YouTube to get an idea of the rhythm and melody if you are not too keen on reading music. :-PUse the look inside feature and see for yourself!

this is the fake book to get
If you want to have just one fake book, this is the one to get. I also have Just Standards from the same series. Both have a similar format, and there is a little bit of overlap in terms of the songs included in the two volumes. One thing I like about both volumes is the addition of alternate chordings in certain passages of a song. In some cases, I adopt these alternate chordings completely. In others, I might throw them in just in one verse. It's nice, in any case, to have alternatives. That, of course, is exactly what jazz is all about.

No spiral or plastic comb binding
I don't understand why this C version is bound with either spiral or plastic comb like all of the other versions. This book simply cannot be used with a binding that allows the book to open flat on a music stand. I'll have to take this to Staples to rebind it.

All you need for jazz standards
There will never be just one book that covers everything but this is a great addition to my collection. There are the inevitable duplication from other 'real' type books but there's plenty here for everyone.
