Billy Blanks: Tae Bo Classic
R**D
Great Old School Tae Bo
First things first - this is not a newly filmed version of the beloved VHS Tae Bo Advanced. That class was 55 minutes with 33 minutes of cardio, the LEGENDARY 11 minute floor leg routine, 5 minutes of abs and then he stretches you out. Yes this does have many but not all of those standing moves - no neck rolls - but it is not the same routine. But the class does have an old school Tae Bo feel similar to the Ripped and the Live classes circa early 2000. (Note: if you really are nostalgic for the first advanced set you can find it for download on internet. )The production is much better than the old days and it is filmed on the Dojo set with the smaller class of seven people. This is a pure cardio class that is 63 minutes with all standing work. It starts with a cardio warm-up and then moves into stretches. The official class starts around five minutes in with jabs and continues until 57 minute mark when the cool down starts. The last 10 minutes of the cardio focuses on the "buttocks" according to Billy but I felt it in my quads and hamstrings. This is not a beginner class due to the length (52 minutes of pure cardio) but I think a beginner could do it with breaks and modification of not going so deep in the legs. Also, Tae Bo really does not have choreography but instead uses combinations which Billy breaks down a couple of times slow and then has you do them at tempo. Although the combinations may take a few reps to get down so you are moving with the group this routine is doable for people who are dance or choreography challenged especially since Shelly and the group call out the counts and the moves of the combinations.I will update after doing the workout wearing my hear rate monitor but I would queses the calorie burn to be around 750 - 1000 depending on your age and weight.

Decent full body workout
At the end of this workout I was sweating, so I consider this a success. It is clear that even the "back-up guys" were working, as they often stopped counting or modified a move.I would agree that most of the moves were what I would consider classic, and I liked that this DVD relied more heavily on combinations of moves, rather than individual moves.I will do the tape again, although there were a few things I found off-putting:-The cues are pretty terrible. I have done Billy Blanks videos before, so I realize this is not his strong point, but I thought his cues were worse than normal.-They often got off beat. I find this very distracting because once I get the combination down, I don't typically look at the screen, and it is difficult to count when not using the beat. Also, at one point there was a combination that took up (5) counts which I thought was pretty weird.

Great workout. do it consistantly for results.
Back in early 2000s I was a VHS user of Tae bo. I loved what it did for me in terms of weight loss and shaping my body. I have purchased other work out videos and other Taebo videos but never really liked them. finally I found this one and its perfect! I have done it 4 times now, I haven't been able to finished the entire workout but each time I have gotten a little further. it is a great workout. even doing 30 to 45 mins of the workout will get your results. I already see the change to my arms. its a challenging workout and if you want results and aren't afraid of sweating then this is worth a try.another thing worth mentioning for me is, I don't like to do workouts that jump/move around too much and this is workout is tough without needing to move around as much.

Amazing
It has a lot of the old moves, and it has been kicking my butt. I use it on average 5 nights a week, and in about 2 months I have dropped 10 pounds (mind you, I have not been sticking to my diet like I should). Pairing this with a healthy meal plan, and I'll be able to reach my goal weight within the next month or so! Woo! Billy Blanks is extremely motivational, his moves aren't so difficult that you want to give up, but they are enough to make you sweat about a quarter of the way through. It feels as though it never gets repetitive because it makes you want to challenge yourself every time you do it, to do it better , faster, and with more strength. I have used Tae*bo since I was 13 (honest), and I am 22 now, I would never change it up!

Happy I gave this DVD a second chance
I had ordered this DVD months ago and sent it back. Just bought it again on a whim and I liked it better now. It has a lot if mistakes, but r is easy to follow and not hard are all to do. It is about one hour long, but Mr. Blanks energy and love for what he does continues to shine through this workout. I am glad I gave it a second chance.

Close but no cigar
As a devotee of the original VHS series, I, like many others, have watched the tapes struggle with the usual wear and tear of actual tape. My old VCR has "eaten" my Advanced tape once or twice, so I chose between buying a rewinder, or trying the new DVD. It would have been great if the queue of moves, as advertised, were the same as the original. They do a few of them, but have added a bunch that aren't nearly as effective, and are useless at double-time. Should they decide to remake the original, and follow it, I might try again. For now, I'll buy the rewinder and hope for the best with my old VHS tape. The DVD does, at least, provide a good audio count for running through the old moves, which I know by heart anyway.

Classic moves, but fast pace
I got this because I wanted something like old basic tae Bo. This is a very good total body workout and Billy is very good at motivating and giving an occasional laugh. I especially like how each exercise is broken down and down at a slow tempo first, and none of them are complex. My only 2 pet peeves are this is a long workout, and as usual Billy's regular tempo is like a frenetic crazy pace. I don't see how you can maintain good form, and particularly achieve the ab work you are trying to get with a lot of the moves when you are moving so fast.

Kicked my butt!
Wow, I kinda forgot how an hour of this flew by, but still had me sweating! I run a few times a week, so I thought my cardio would be pretty good....I actually had to take a breather, (a few times!) but it was not too annoying, good counts and glad to see it back...sans the technicolor tights! :)When you're having fun, the old form just comes back, and you don't realize how hard you're working.... until you have to jump with squats. That was in the last 10min, and I did stop, rested, then finished, as I didn't want to give up after doing so much!I'm sure it will be much better soon endurance wise, but def good purchase!Picked this one based on reviews, and will pick up more too I think! Also, purchased Jackie Warner's power Circut..great to listen to! Very good!PS I had back surgery in 2009,( with permanent hardware) and I can this at the "a-bit-out-of-shape" age of 36 ...so YOU can do it too!!

Very good DVD but I wish it had more upper body ...
Very good DVD but I wish it had more upper body (arm) workout like the old VHS workouts Blanks had. Wish there were 2-3 different workouts on the one DVD, for variety and time (a one hour workout and a half hour workout) Still, his workouts are great!

It was not the original one that I wanted, but the following one. I still like it, but will keep it for once I have mastered the 1st part.
