WOWZA! Remastered at last!
At last, we get some of the SRV radio broadcasts that have been previously available but now re-packaged and re-mastered to a standard expected.I brought this box set JUST for the one disc as I have the others in various packaging from previous purchases. I wanted Disc 9 and was blown away by the clear sound throughout. Disc 9 also includes some music from The Fire & The Fury CD, so when I heard that, again, I was taken aback to the fantastic sound compared to The Fire and The Fury CD. I decided to play the other discs.WOWZA!! What a difference to the previous releases, that were rushed out with poor packaging and sub-standard sound. If you are a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan, you probably have some of these already, as The Vaughan Estate run by Jimmie is VERY careful about tarnishing Stevie's legacy with unauthorised shows, BUT until Jimmie feels it time to release official shows, we have to make do with what is available with the radio broadcasts. These concerts ARE a revelation, particularly Disc 5 (New Years Eve - Atlanta 1986) which previously sounded like it was recorded on poor equipment. It now sounds crisp and fresh. Each disc is housed in a snazzy sleeve with full listings on the back. The booklet is a bit below standard, we get a few photos of Double Trouble, minus Reese Wynans, which is a bit poor considering he is on six of the discs! We get some snippets from publications, but the last one from The Baltimore Sun is guilty of not presenting the facts correctly, as its dated August 19th 1990, yet is detailing Stevies death, which happened on August 27th 1990, but that's just me being pedantic. The CDs are housed in a sturdy box that resembles a guitar amp with a SRV graphic on the speaker mesh. All very good!Kudos and respect to record company Sound Stage for re-mastering these shows, I just wish they could have secured the Honolulu 1984 show with Jeff Beck and the Bumbleshoot Arts Festival 1985, which BOTH sound a mess. Im sure they could also be re-mastered and released to an appreciative audience.Overall, a 10/10 score, right up there with a few of the excellent shows already available. My ONLY gripes......I was led to believe Id receive it on the day of release, but got it a week later, but my main concern, is the Vaughan Estate probably wont see a single penny, and that doesn't sit right with me.Still, its the best £24 you will ever spend on a box set. Trust me!

SRV - The bluesman's bluesman
Anything by 'The Man' is worth listening to.I have a lot of this stuff on bootleg discs but good to have in in one boxed set.The track listings are very confusing but don't let that put you off.Still, to me, the best blues artist there ever was. Most of the young guitar slingers these days still tip their hat to Stevie, buy the discs, turn up the volume and find out why.

Fantastic value and quality.
Maybe not the ideal choice for your first dip into SRV, but for those of us who want as much as we can get, this boxed set is excellent. I already had a lot of these live shows on bootlegs, but these remastered versions are very much better in both clarity and headroom. Highly recommended. A great record of stage work from the master of guitar blues.

Excellent to Superb throughout
Sound: Excellent to Superb throughout!Packaging: Nothing elaborate. Cardboard box housing 9 paper sleeves and a booklet.Unfortunately the Ripley’s, Montreal and Chicago Blues Fest CD’s all have gaps and cuts between songs. Some cuts very abrupt. In this day and age, this is unacceptable. I own all of these shows on CDR and none of them have gaps. IMO, if you’re going to do something, do it right or don’t bother.

S.R.V at his best
This is amazing value for any S.R.V.fan. Many of these discs are available separately but works out at a much higher price. All discs are reasonable quality sound so if you are a fan buy this.

What a brilliant set of recordings
What a brilliant set of recordings! There are very few bargains in this world, but this really is one. Buy it even if you've never heard SRV before.

Ottimo
