Favourite series
This series is an epic love story set in a gritty modern fantasy world… with the ultimate morally grey mmc who would burn the world for the people he loves, a FMC who grows in strength & a found family that would do anything for each other.Throw in a unique magic system, a different take on magical creatures & an unforgiving & harsh world & you have The House of Devils series. This book is BIG, and because of that there is a lot of plot that is built up & takes time. There were moments that I questioned if certain things were needed - but then ultimately the author brought it back around & I could see why it was there & it all made sense. There is ONE moment that I still question - but I’m giving the author the benefit of the doubt that it will make sense in B3 because if it doesn’t it felt a bit ‘too easy’Other than that the whole story was gripping, enthralling & pulled on every one of my heart strings. I love how the world expanded in this book & how we learnt a lot more about the side characters. The ending had so much happening but was really well paced. Nothing felt rushed so the emotional impact really hit you. Some things I really appreciated:The anxiety rep 🙌🏽the diabetes rep 🙌🏽the grief rep 🙌🏽all fantasticOh & the spice…. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 - after the wait of b1 this one certainly delivered 🙌🏽 (some personally ick words for me that I looked over but overall it was 💯💯💯)Lastly, Darien is one of the most well rounded characters I have ever read. He is the absolute star of the show. How his grief manifests as anxiety & anger & how he deals with that - while also LOVING his ‘found family’ & Loren so hard that he gives all of himself… is so heartbreaking.BUT, Ultimately that ending…. I’m broken…. In the best & worst ways… I am so happy B2 lived up to my expectations after loving B1, this series will go down as one of my all time favourites

AMAZING read and stunning book!
I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who has read City of Gods and Monsters! Kayla has done it again with this second book in The House of Devils series and the story just gets better. Readers get a deeper insight into more characters/the world of Angelthene, and the romance between Loren and Darien is written *chefs kiss*. Kayla’s writing is truly captivating.Sooooo… what are you waiting for??? Grab City of Gods and Monsters AND now City of Souls and Sinners and thank me later :) Also, the beautiful detail in the cover deserves its own moment! Seriously stunning.

Buckle up for this second installment of a House of Devils series!
I remember my last review for City of Gods & Monsters & how much I became so obsessed. But y’all, this book has topped it for me. It immediately picks up after the events from CoGaM and it is a WILD RIDE all the way through. I know I said I would need a few days to get this review together but I don’t even know how to start.First off, Darien & Loren go through so many trials and tribulations that it kept tearing at my heart strings. Page after page my anxiety just kept skyrocketing. My poor baby Darien just going at it with surges and doing everything he can to keep his family safe. He just could NOT CATCH A DAMN BREAK. And then there’s Loren, who also wants to keep her new family safe but is LITERALLY left with no choice but to figure stuff out on her own. It leaves you SO heartbroken. They are tested heavily but "𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘤." Actually, I lied about Darien not catching a break, because this book had MORE spice & holy crap put me in a chokehold. But other than that, CANT CATCH A BREAK.I also love how there were different POV’s in this book & I’m glad we got to see more of Max & his relationship with Dallas. We were introduced to new characters as well & also got to see a few people we saw briefly from the first book — one I was so excited to see again was DOMINIC. 😮💨Ok lastly, things got SO 👏🏼 INTENSE 👏🏼 towards the end & trust me when I say find some time to read this ending in one sitting & also not so late in the night because you will not want to stop. If you end up staying up late (like I did) to finish it, well…good luck trying to go to bed. The ending blew my mind & now I’ll be sitting here dying inside because I have to wait for book 3.Kayla, you have outdone yourself. This series is topping at one of my favorites. I cannot wait for what’s to come & I’m excited to learn more about our favorite Devils.

A Great Sequel 🖤
This book is woah… so much is happening to Loren, Darien and the Devils. Book 2 follows our MC’s after the events of book 1. There’s mysteries around every corner that everyone’s trying to figure out. Is Loren’s magic really gone? Why is Darien getting so many surges? Who is this random girl that Max found and why does she seem to be connected to everything? Whats going on with the veil?I don’t want to say too much and give anything away but… just know this book has soooo much going on. I love the addition of Max’s PoV and seeing his feelings for Dallas and watching her get vulnerable. But the star of the show is Loren and Dariens love for each other. Tear the world apart to get to each other kind of love. He is so tender for her it makes my heart hurt and she would risk her life to protect him. And the spice?????? Cmon. 🥵🥵🥵🥵and the ending…. THE ENDING?!?!?! Help.My only notes would be it did feel kinda long and could’ve been condensed down for more impact per chapter. Overall a great book 2 for the series and I’m looking forward to book 3!
